I remember Mohan as a vibrant young man at Spicer during my brief stay there. He had a personality which created an amazing and lasting impression even if one spent a few minutes with him. God has a purpose for everything. My Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.
Andy, My family and I feel at loss for words and continue to keep family in our prayer for God's Amazing Grace during such a difficult time. I personally have fond and amazing memories with Mohan, his thoughtfulness always giving much more that expected. His jovial personality brought out the funny side of life among friends and family. It's hard for me to take this loss and realize I missed out on staying in touch with Mohan. I just should have tried harder to stay in touch. The news was shocking. Mohan will be missed by all who knew and connected with him. Many times I have personally experienced his thoughtfulness, Mohan was always so happy and brought a sense of ease to all his friends, families, and strangers he met on his journey. I am so sorry such a wonderful person has moved on to his sleep under care of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Anita and I along with our daughters, Michelle, Cassandra, and Brittany share our heartfelt condolences and will keep family in our prayers. Will stand by and support in any way necessary during this time.

The eschatology of the Millerite movement is based on using the day-year conversion of a 2300 day parameter to interpret the vision of the ram and goat (the vision of the mornings and evenings) in Daniel 8:9-14 in conjunction with Daniel 9:24-27 “70 sevens” prophecy in order to determine date of the second advent of Jesus as a high priest who would come to his earthly sanctuary (church) and atone for the sins of people of the world with his blood. The eschatology is fundamentally flawed as the context of Daniel 8:9-14, the vision of ram and goat, has little to do with that of Daniel 9:24-27, the “70 sevens” prophecy, apart from being a precursor to the time of the end. Daniel 8:9-14, the vision of ram and goat, is not eschatological whereas Daniel 9:24-27 “70 sevens” prophecy is. Some may argue that Daniel 8:9-14 can be considered a “type/shadow” of Daniel 9:24-27, but even so, it is not valid to mix the “type/shadow” with the “anti-type/reality” as if they were contextually one and the same event. Yet the Millerite eschatology assumes the same context for the two prophecies. It obtains the starting date of 457BCE based on date of a decree for the restoration of the post-exilic Second Temple in Daniel 9 “70 sevens” and then assume that the second advent of Jesus can be determined from Daniel 8:9-14 in a totally different context (by using the conversion of 2300 daily sacrifices to 2300 years time lapse - a questionable procedure itself, not to mention the wrong interpretation of the 2300 day parameter). It is no wonder that the prophecy of the Millerite group failed, resulting in the Great Disappointment of 1844 CE. The Adventist group formed after the Great Disappointment merely explained away the failure of the Millerite group by claiming the incomplete atoning work of Jesus that required his cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary in 1844CE for the subsequent investigative judgement before his actual second advent. This eschatology will obviously fare no better in outcome since it was built upon the same flawed exegeses. The passage in Daniel 8:9-14 is a prophecy concerning the defilement of the post exilic Second Temple by a pagan king for the time duration of 2300 mornings and evenings (daily sacrifices) before its reconsecration for normal temple services again. The interpretation of the vision of the ram and goat in Daniel 8:9-14 is given in Daniel 8:19-26 which clearly establishes the context in the time of the Greece empire under Alexander the Great and the subsequent aftermath when the empire was parcelled out among his four generals. Note that Daniel 8:17, 8:19 which refer to “time of the end” do not imply that the context of the vision of the ram and goat was in the time of the end; the verses simply mean this vision is a precursor to the time of the end and archangel Gabriel would later give Daniel insights into the eschatological events in a separate vision, Daniel 9. Daniel 8:23 “in the latter period of their rule” refers to the rule of the four generals of Alexander who arose out of Alexander’s broken-up empire. Known history indicates it was just prior to the Maccabean uprising, which spelled the effective end of that rule. And what instigated the Maccabean rebellion? The desecration of the Second Temple by Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a descendent of Alexander’s general Seleucus. The description of Antiochus Epiphanes in Daniel 8:23, as “insolent and skilled in intrigue,” is consistent with what is known about him, such as his persecution of the Jews, the placing of the desolating abomination in the Second Temple and his being “broken without human agency,” which is consistent with his death from disease as reported in 2 Maccabees. Therefore the context for understanding the vision of the ram and goat is the desecration of the Temple by Antiochus for a specific duration, not an eschatological time some 2,300 years later for this event to happen. Viewing “evenings and mornings” as figuratively meaning “years” is at best a guess work. Knowing that the continual daily sacrifices in the Temple practised by the Israelites consisted of the one burnt offering in the evening and another in the morning in their daily routine, the time duration of 2300 “ mornings and evenings” should actually be 1150 days, not 2300 days. This can be verified from available data. The precise dates for the beginning and end of Antiochus' desecration of the Second Temple are known from historical records. 1 Maccabees 1:54 gives the date of the abomination as Kislev (December) 15, 167 BCE, while 1 Maccabees 4:52-53 say that the Temple was rededicated on Kislev 25, 164 BCE. These two dates span a total of 3 years and 10 days. Counting over the 3 years and 10 days period based on a calendar system according to Herodotus with three 360-day year and two 30-day intercalary months, one in the first and another in the third year (“every other year”), we have a total of : 1,080 + 60 + 10 = 1,150 days.
