You sir get a like for being the first one to actually give a list of pulp magazines by their genres, I've been looking for good northwest stories for a while so thank you for that. Also your editing and cutaways are freaking hilarious.

What about advertising (a happy or confident consumer world), political advertising, 'balance' in news (where Israeli bombings are always self-defense), newspaper cartoons, 'apoltical' art?

These artists worked for peanuts. The had to produce quickly, and make the picture eye catching on a crowded news stand. Personally I love their work, and would proudly hang it in my home. I guess that makes me weird.

You've used the insufferable, meaningless, annoying and PERVERSELY overused word on RU-vid, "iconic" twice in as many videos. And as per my usual practice, they were both immediately turned off. I have to do this around 8 times a day.

"The targets were white men who were afraid of the changes happening in the early 20th century". Has to be one of the most embarrassing and shallow stereotypes and simplified visions of history I've ever been unfortunate enough to hear. Thanks for sharing your knee-jerk, DEI, academia training with us. God save us from male feminists.

He had the artistic chops and a seemingly significant Cultural oeuvre. Not sure what credibility many artists have when it comes to assessing Economics, Politics, or many things that are System-Oriented. Passionate posers, a bit. Can’t no Politician or Economist paint like that, though. 👍🏼

Popular Magazine - “for boys and old boys” I love that. I have a wife and kids and a job, but I still long for adventure, for mind boggling investigations, for prowling the city at night. I’m an old boy.

Unfortunately, history doesn't remember people for being good, example humans, they remember them because they change the world. Thomas Eakins was a bad person and I think most of the SA accusations were probably true.

It's long been thought that the Art world is inhabited by money launderers posing as pretentious pseudo intellectuals. For example, Basquiat's 1982 skull painting titled "Untitled" recently sold for over $110 MILLION dollars. All that money for something that looks like a 6 year old child produced it. "But Temulon" they'll say "you don't understand, due to your limited education, world view and frankly, lack of basic intelligence, that "Untitled" is one of the foremost examples of the Neo-expressionism movement in existence". All of which is just a sales pitch full of artsy jargon to justify selling shit for ungodly high prices, or as I mentioned earlier, a method of laundering money. And if you mention that the painting isn't impressive and appears to have been painted by a child and not a world renowned heroin addict, you'll quickly be told that you're not educated enough to understand what you're looking at. 🙄

I think you did not include an important part of his life in this video: His sexual attraction to men. Many of his homoerotic paintings speak for themselves. Many of the allegations against his behavior were related to his homosexuality. I leave a link of a very interesting study about this artist and two other great American painters: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hZAQ8Yy1zm0.html

Thank you for the link and discussion! There is plenty of evidence to support this, but I did not include it since it is really up for debate. You are right that his paintings speak for themselves... the allegations from male and female students are really what's important.

Love pulp art. There are many books that cover the subject and are worth picking up. You should cover paperbacks of the 50s-70s next and men’s adventure mags of the 50s-60s.
