i use the mr624 for 2 years now. Why i stick to hem is that they have 0 listening fatigue. I mix on them and i also game/watch movies/listen music on them.
@JdsBleedo I went between Krk8400 headphones and my CLA10s, the CLA10s are definitely useful as a 2nd reference, but like always it's about knowing your room/monitors with reference tracks, I mostly use the CLAs for hearing compression/reverb etc
I use the Neumann KH310 and they are incredible linear with a very clean low end. I write this because today there is no need, in my opinion, for some NS10 or a clone if you already use a great linear speaker. If I mix on the 310s, they sound good when the mix is good. So the same effect with a way better spectrum and detail then some NS10s can bring.
@axoplanet6081 I appreciate your input, I've listened to those and many other monitors. Definitely like the KH310 just probably not in most people's price bracket 🙂
@vladpetrovsky8674 It really depends on the source material as to which limiter is best. A few things to consider are: Does the limiter have adjustment over up-sampling? Does it have control for attack and release, also like the new Ozone limiter, clipping features, multi-band controls. Just to name a few. In this situation for Free it has very limited features, but still sounds clean and has far less distortion than I've heard from other limiters that cost money.
I own the MR624s and I had the JBLs before that. I took the JBLs back to the store. Great mids/highs but the low end was not enough. The Mackies (in my room) had a little more extension in the low end while the highs still sounded good. It’s all subjective to your ear which is why speaker reviews are tough. I love the build quality on the Mackies.
I’ve been on the fence about purchasing this one. I have a preamp 1073 going to SSL 2+ interface into pro tools but only two channels Into & out How would that work with this little summing?
You need at least 4 stereo outs or 8 mono to go to the summing box or, unless you just want to use it for the 2Bus in that case you need stereo in and stereo output on your interface.
Help me understand! I bought Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0 and am working in Cubase. Why is it that when I turn down the output volume on the Limiter 2.0 Bettermaker Mastering, the peaks still pass through and the red peak lights up on the channel in Cubase? In software limiters, by reducing the output volume, we are protected from peaks, but in Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0, by reducing the output volume, peaks still pass through the DAW?! Is this how it should be or am I missing something? And, another question - does it matter where to put the Limiter 2.0 Bettermaker control plugin itself, on the master channel or on the track? Thank you in advance! I have already tried recording between two computers via an analog connection and the peaks appear again on the recording computer. But it shouldn’t be this way; with software limiters, when the output level is reduced even by -05 dB, the peaks do not pass through, and in the case of Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0, they pass through the channel in the DAW. Help me please!
It works a little differently to a software limter, I suggest reading the manual to understand it more, though. It does have a clipping function, but it also depends on your converter and a few other factors. Just adjust your output on the "input" to compensate.

And, also, when the input and output level knobs on the Bettermaker Mastering Limiter 2.0 are moved to the far left, the sound, although quiet, still passes through, is it really supposed to be like that? I changed the firmware, read the instructions, but it hasn’t helped yet, the peaks are passing! I wrote to the manufacturers, but there is no response yet. Thank you in advance! Help me understand! It's an objective topic, but in that price bracket, you have UAD also and a few other brands like presonus, etc. For resale value.. no, I would for AD/DA, yes. I personally have the Orion Synergy for the conversion and the inputs/output s and routing. Aside from that, I'd probably look elsewhere.
a nice sounding compressor in that the gain itself has "tone" to it. Your input level is just a few dB too low to be in its sweet spot of the threshold range for a slow attack.
So, some of these plug-ins are older, and I have a slightly diff vocal chain now, but I will create a video on my current setup if youd like.. SE 2300 mic, SSL Six pre slight compression and eq, plug-ins used, Waves Tune real-time, Izotope Alloy 2 EQ, sooth, OTT "free" a splash of stock logicx delay and reverb plate. that song will actually be out around April this year, I appreciate you, fam. I have other releases open.spotify.com/artist/0ZF3XP95Zs8iO0UZzJ2ZH0
I am looking to sell my KOMPLETE 14 ULTIMATE DL (Download). I paid $880 total for the package of all the instruments, i was wondering if 1. It is possible to sell it to someone and 2. Is anyone here looking to buy it off of me ? The Komplete Ultimate regular price goes for $1600 CA. If anyone can help me with some info that would be awesome, thanks for your time, take care.
Id say yes, to some extent. It al depends on what "flavor" you want. But that said repurt neve make a tape emulation also which is great for coloring your sound
@GGonmyown i think you mean adding harmonics, theres a few options but depending on your budget. Cranborne Audio Carnaby 500, to the Gamechanger Audio Plasma Drive High Voltage Distortion Eurorack Module or in the expensive range Black Box Analog Design HG-2 Saturation Processor the list goes on, just depends on your requirements, also check out plug-ins like Izotope exciter, fabfilter have a distortion plug-in heaps of options
I own a pair of Edifier s2000mkiii's which I absolutely love -- like, seriously love -- but the thing that keeps intriguing me about the Mackie's is their apparent facility for low volumes. I like a low volume listening session, with "hotel bar jazz" (like Oscar Pederson, Cyrus Chestnut, Beegie Adair) and at least some listening off-axis. Thoughts?
I've listened to your edifiers before, what i feel is the difference is the low end, at low volumes, the mackies have a way of making it sound like they have the same amount of lows at any volume. Where I feel you loose is in the low mids, but not many speakers can do everything. Unless you're looking at 10k range like ATC SCM25A Mk2 6.5-inch 3-way
Bought one, had to give it back after two days. Too many drivers problem. Won’t recommend to any professional recordists to get into antelope world. Too problematic.
Interesting. On the individual parts I liked the Antelope 'better' than the others due to sounding like it had the most 'body' and 'vibe', but in the final examples with the music & vocals combined I liked the 511 better and the Antelope seemed to sound more 'congested' with the vocal kind of sinking back; whereas the on the 511 the vocal still 'popped out' kind of 3D on top of the music. Very interesting. My Discrete Pro 8 (with the BAE 1073) will be arriving tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see what it enhancement it adds to my final results as an upgrade from my Presonus 1810c. Thanks for the test!
