I replaced battery - Luminox blackout version with a 395. Did exactly like the video but watch won't work. After the battery is in position, you did something with a screwdriver for 5 to 10 seconds but it was completely blocked from view by your hands. i suspect that is the part I needed to see. Can you please explain what you were doing then? Under the battery, there is a copper colored "tab" sticking out. Mine is bent up toward back of watch. That should remain under the battery (negative side), correct? Is it supposed to stick straight out flat? If so, that may be my problem. Thanks.
The "tab" on the bottom (negative side) is supposed to stick out and slightly bent up. the part that you can not see in the video is a tab that is screwed into the movement and is touching the positive side of the battery. You need to loosen the screw and move the tab out of the way. If your watch is still not working, you may need to take it into a shop that does watch repair as there might be other issues with the watch / movement.
Hello, The alarm on my V172 is Inaudible, you can hear it by pressing your ear to the watch. Do you think it's because of the battery that i will have to replace? For the rest, the watch works well Thank you for your advice
It might be the capacitor or it may have to do with the contacts that touch the back of the watch (speaker). I would recommend you take it to a qualified repair center.
Thank you for watching. These can be tricky. If you do not do it correctly, you can shatter your crystal. This is also why some places charge extra to work on these models.
Good and informative video! When I change the battery, the battery keeps popping up, how do I hold it in place? Also the white film is broken, can it be replace? Now it is ticking 2 seconds.
You can get an insulator from many supply houses. as for the ticking you need to perform an "All Clear" for the seconds to work properly. Also check to make sure the battery is still good, Sometimes even new batteries can be bad/expired and therefore do not have a full charge.
Thanks for making the video, I'm using it to replace the battery in a 7T92. I fell at the first hurdle though as my cheapo 'Precision' screwdriver set did not fit the screw in the rotor tightly enough to give me confidence to unscrew it so I stopped. The groove in the top of the screw is quite shallow. Can you recommend a screwdriver set ? Thanks

Coming from a watch maker of 23 years first thing you done wrong the watch should of been placed in a clamp as if the back removing tool slips your in the deep do do and you don't use tweezers to put a battery in in case it shorts it you use rodico and you didn't remove the stem and crown either that would fail a p t as well
Hi Phil. Thank you for viewing my videos and thank you for the follow and thank you for the comment. Yes you are correct, you can really cause serious damage. Before the video the watches are opened and inspected using proper tools and then lightly closed back for the video shoot. I also do not agree with watchmakers that remove the stem and put in silicone lube in the crown so that the watch passes the pt (pressure test), since the lube can migrate into the movement and cause issues that can be prevented.
After the battery install, the movement and the battery was cleaned with Rodico to remove any finger prints and oils from previous service. The battery is then marked with our initials so, we know that the service was done by us when it comes back for service again. We do not use conductive grease.
Why did you switch batteries off screen? I replaced mine with a 395 and it’s still not workin. I don’t have the old battery, think it could be a 3v lithium?
That's weird looks like the battery was changed on screen. In any case, sometimes, the contact on the bottom of the battery gets bent when installing the new battery check and make sure that is not what happened to you. Also there are also times when the watch becomes magnetized and may need to be demagnetized. Make sure the coil is not damaged and if all of the above checks out then you may need to replace the movement.
