can you pull up to wrightsville beach tomorrow near crystal peir around 11? you gave me your board last yr and I'm trying to learn how to wrap, it would be great to get some advice now that I can on step and am getting very close.
Hey Jack, a few key things to focus on speed, placement, and body movement....1. Speed: learn to run faster with the board and when you step onto the board act as if you running on hot cement.... be light on your feet. this way you don't lose all that speed getting onto it. You can lose speed by stepping on the board with too much force. 2. body position/placement: stay centered and low over the center of the board. Important: move your back foot back on the kick pad as you approach the wave. 3. Head and shoulder movement: (this is where most people mess up, including me). watch every pro skimmer and you'll notice they look where they want to go and they are rotating their shoulders and hips that same direction. Where ever your head is facing the body will follow. Go watch some of blair conklins (or any pros) videos, slow it down to half speed, and study every small movement they do. Hope this helps. keep shreddin
yo ik this is very short notice but can you go to wrightsville beach tmr around 10-12, a few other skimboarders are pulling up and it would be hype if you could come.
Hey Gio, It would all depend on what sort of shorebreak you usually skim and also your skill-level. I always recommend 5/8th's thickness to anyone that has perfected their drop-step and is sliding out to waves consistently. Provide me with some more details and I will let you know what you should get! - height, weight, skill-level (are you riding waves over knee high?)
Nice backside liners in the too. Thanks for sharing I drop the same with right hand on back of the board and step on goofy footed. I've been on a slotstik all my life though and don't know what I'll do when it wears out , it'd be great if they start making them again. Much love from vilano beach!
