Just looking into this curriculum, if the rabbit trails lead you to science topics like trees and others that are mentioned, I'm confused why there are separate science and history curriculum. Can you shed any light on that?
Yes, for sure! When I first started writing Rabbit Trails through Literature, I never dreamed we'd grow to have different subjects. I love the organic way kids can learn multiple subjects together in this and young kids may not need an additional science or history. However, many people wanted more focused core subjects, so we provided that with our science and history units. Some people only use our history, etc., while others use all of our subjects. Usually those who use all of them (my family included) may not use all of the Rabbit Trails involved in our literature units unless they fit in with our other units or it's a topics that kids will enjoy. It definitely doesn't take away from the language arts they learn through the units and is added exploration if they're using Rabbit Trails for all subjects. I hope that clears things up!
Fellow Ohioen!! I just made my own homesteading curriculum 😮 I am thinking they will be popping up more and more. Your whole concept is just fabulous! We go down so many rabbit trails.
Is there a lesson on raising chicks? That’s at the top of my kid’s to-do list when we eventually get to our dream homestead. That and acquiring kittens 🤔😂
When it comes to history, homeschoolers don't know what they are doing. When you take your kid out of public school you should be doing it to get away from establishment history which is written to distort history in key places. Your book is filled with the Lincoln myth and just cause nonsense on the Civil War. You might as well keep him in public school. Please note I am not trying to hurt your feelings. I recommend you first learn more about history yourself. Go to the Brian McClanahan Academy on line and sign up for a free class. Ten myths in American History. It is his only free class but this will help.
Thank you for making this video! ❤ Truly curious how it compares to MwC! We’ve used their level K this year. Ordered it and excited to try out level one. 😄 Just realized what I wrote above made it sound like I ordered MwC level 1😜 However after watching your video I researched apologia math and I definitely think my daughter will like it more than MwC. I’m excited to try it out! 😊 So thanks for making this video!
@@RabbitTrailsHomeschool we just got level one of exploring creation with math! I’m so excited to get started with it in the next coming month! Glad I ran across your video when I did. ☺️ Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.
This looks amazing! I would love to try a full month of this out before committing to the entire year with my kiddos who are 9 and 11. What is the age range for this? If I sign up for the monthly membership, does that mean I can cancel at any time? Is there any way to access offerings from past months with the membership? Sorry for all of the questions!❤
You can see a sample on our website! It obviously doesn't have the read aloud included, but does include everything else. This is perfect for your 9 and 11 year olds. It's for all elementary ages that can write independently and also early middle school. If you sign up for the monthly option, you may cancel at any time. There is no way to access past months, but I do plan to come out with some bundles of past lessons later this year 😊
This sounds very interesting. We need yo try it and this motivates me to read The Green Ember with my little one. Thank you so much for sharing,! 🙏☺️💕💗
@@RabbitTrailsHomeschool I am sure will.🙏☺️ We are currently reading The Chronicles of Narnia and loving them!. And I am now truly looking forward to this one. May you have a lovely weekend! 💕💗☺️
I would love a video with a close-up flip through of the curriculum! It's so much easier to get a feel for something when I'm able to see it that way 😊
This particular curriculum is full of apologetics and teaches the different Christian theories of creation. You can see the first lesson in a sample on our website that lays all of those out. The main book, being a regular, "secular" book, gives us the opportunity to point to the Bible and what it says about creation. While we don't teach evolution, there are still different creation theories inside of Christianity and we give you the opportunity to talk about your beliefs, whether it be young earth, gap theory, etc. (There are a few suggested videos that lean on the young earth creation side as well).
@@RabbitTrailsHomeschoolHi, I'm wondering how this is going after using it a few more months? I'm considering switching to it from Math With Confidence.
Nope! The lessons are short and sweet to do each day. We use every subject plus writing in my home and it's the perfect amount. We actually do science and history two days a week and do a little bit more from them at a time (maybe read a book, watch a video, do a hands on activity) instead of just one thing each day.
Thank you for this video. Are you familiar with singapore math? I'm looking for something that uses a little more of the conceptual math/mental math approach that isn't TOTALLY over my head like singapore is!
I don't have a coupon code, BUT, normally the studio is only open for enrollment a couple of times a year. You can sign up and get in with my affiliate link without having to wait!
I still don't have any kiddos in the right grades to use it to its fullest (next year, finally!!!) We used it strictly supplemental for a handful of lessons. So, unfortunately I'm not sure how long a full lesson would take yet, sorry!
Thank you so much for your video! I was trying to find an honest review of level 2, we are using 1 and I was hoping 2 would work as good. Congratulations on finding your perfect math! :)
I learned about Betsy ross and General George Washington and Benjamin Franklin in school in 2 grade and there is a little history and a little fiction so it’s called historical fiction
Watching this in Aug. ‘22! I just heard about this program - are you still using it? If not, why? I’m so intrigued…I had considered other more formal programs, but I’d love to try this one - seems perfect for elementary ages! Thanks for the helpful review!
I LOVE that book! We featured Sophie Blackall in our membership (you can check out our membership at rabbittrailshomeschool.com/journey-down-the-rabbit-trail). I don't have a read aloud of it, though. I do very few public read alouds, as you need permission from the publisher to do so. I got special permission for this book because it's no longer available new to purchase.
@@RabbitTrailsHomeschool can you use it for special needs children who are slower. My child is 11 and still can't read well. He is doing K, 1st grade work. Autistic, adhd
Like I said in the video, we haven't been able to use it to it's full capacity because they don't have the levels we need for my older kids, so we just used level 3 to supplement. I fully plan to use level 1 once my daughter hits first grade next year!
This is so helpful! I am trying to decide between apologia math and master books. Have your kids ever used master books for math and if so how would you say they compare to apologia? Thanks🙂
Thank you for saying that your devotional time is with you kids bc that the only time you can! Everyone else seems to just magically and easily get up an hour before their fam and I just can’t. I’m too tired with young kiddos
