The price of that oil filter!!! I don't agree with you on the off-road tyres: it would be absolutely fucking awesome on a Rolls Royce. I think there's an episode of Top Gear in which one of the hosts brings a Roller to Iceland or wherever with off-road tyres

You definitely need to use RR363 brake fluid, which is a castor oil formulation that keeps the hydraulic pumps lubricated. The Shadow is still the must hydraulically complex car ever built, based on aircraft hydraulics technology. You'll need to learn to bleed the system. You can make your own hydraulic lines or order from Flying Spares. Also, look into rebuilding the accumulator spheres. Get your hydraulics sorted out before it becomes an expensive problem.

Hi, i am running an M54B30 engine swap. Normally E46 cars have ABS sensors that connect to the ABS module and send speed info to the ECU. My E30 has no ABS so the ECU doesn't know how fast i'm going. Though there are ABS sensors on the E30. I am currently installing a digital screen in my E30 called "Canchecked". Its a digital display that reads out ECU info and displays it. The screen also has 4 analog inputs. My question is: is it possible to connect an ABS sensor to the analog input to be able to display the speed or not? Thanks

Hi there. Just found your videos on the Shad. Nicely done. I also bought a Silver Shadow and everything related to Rolls was new to me. Never overhauled a carb before, but it worked out pretty well. Easy. When well maintained, the Rolls is pretty reliable. Cheers, Chris

You most likely have a vacuum leak. What was the torque setting for the wheel nuts? They should be no more than 45-50 ftlbs. Any more will deform the nuts. If the wheels were mounted by a tire shop, I can guarantee you they are set way above 50 lbs.

Great video on how NOT to adjust SU carbs. A peek into the workshop maual will help you. The dampers must be in place, vac advance removed, etc. The carbs have to be balanced with dial gauges and the float level checked. Anyone watching this video willget you in trouble. Notice the rubber hose used on the stove pipe which is above the exhaust manifold.

SU carbs are really simple to work on probably all that was required was cleaning the piston and suction chamber and ensuring the pistons returned with a "click" after the pistpns had be lifted and released

@@ClassicAutoLtd Actually I've been tracking along exactly behind you. I had the same sticky fuel pump solved with a hammer. And the same overflow fuel from float chamber - solved with a hammer. However unlike you, my mixture adjustment screw doesn't move the main jets - on both sides. They are fully stuck. Anything you encountered on how to free up main jets? I've seen about vaseline and ease them up and down on the mixture screw, but I have zero movement. I'm guessing penetrating oil.

Go for a drive if you think everything is properly adjusted with your carburetors. and then you take out your spark plugs and look exactly at the color. hey, it's important that you look carefully at which cylinder which spark plug comes from. You can then read exactly from the spark plug color whether the rolls are running too rich or too lean. good luck with the rolls friend Greetings Henk vanndet Vlist The Netherlands
