I guess it's okay if you are okay with somebody in a prison camp doing forced labor in Communist China. I am not. I tie my own. If I go to other places, I am fine picking up some local patterns. This is my 61st season with the fly rod. I started early. And yeah, there has been a lot of inflation in the sport. I will say that fly lines are by far better than ever.
OH NO, I pray you are doing better my man, we are so lucky to live in these new times. Big up to you legend for informing people, I only recently bought myself new stuff for protection
you are such a nice guy brother, keep posting these awesome videos, although I dont fish temu flies yet its really cool to see you found a cool box full of them. ignore the hate about temu lol, some people out there who cant even afford to support fly shops (that charge alot of money for the term "fly fishing") should know about things like this. youre a good man mike. thank you :D
fish don't care about pretty. they strive to eat ,breed ,and keep ftom being eaten. If really hungry they will eat most anything. Papa wishing you well
my number 1 bass fishing fly is wooly buggers. I make them bigger than normal up to 2/ 0 and 3/0 hooks. black and olive top colors. PAPA WISHING YOU WELL
great review. if my local fly shops would sell tying products at a reasonable price i would support them more. but they gauge us so badly. when i make and sell flies if i get a good deal on materials i always pass them on to my clients.
An old-timer at the lake saw me having that problem his solution was nose Grease when putting your rod together rub the end on your nose and it works really well the rod does not stick when taking it apart
Sorry but I am not supporting something made in China and everything from Temu is China based vendors. It's bad enough we are starting to use all these synthetic materials to catch fish (which I am sure isn't great for the environment) but I'll stick to tying my own or buying from locals.
When talking to line manufacturers, they say the line has the plasticizers built in and armor all just coats the surface. It may also cause the the to pick up more junk. The issue is not going through the guides as in a spinning rod but floatation. The line is already out side the rod when casting.
Have you ever thought of spraying some Armor All on a rag and wiping your fly line? It's suppose to clean and protect car dashboards, vinyl, and plastics, so why not a fly line? I'm sure there are some fly line cleaning products out there, but that Armor All stuff is cheep and most people have a bottle handy. Sure makes the line fly through the guides faster.🤣
Yes I have. Most of these discount lines are lines using five year old technology. And also less quality control. You might have to buy a couple 8 dollar lines to get a good one. More important is to cast well. If you do, you can cast any line.
yes, they are OK, But you really feel the difference in a major brand line. I cast very well but a newer caster might want a better line to start with.
I think it's great that you are working with kids and donating your time to teach youngsters good things. I once made rod wrapping stands for a Venture troop and we made fly rods that the components had been donated. Gives you a good feeling doing things like that.
Thanks for sharing this. After watching numerous videos on making my own whitebass/walleye flies, I ran across your video. Saved me a bunch on a fly tying vice and I enjoy making my own things anyways. Already made my first fly with it and it came out fairly decent.
Surprised how good they look. Be nice to see them closer up. I'm not American, but are the flies in the fly shops actually made in the States by Americans? They must cost a fortune!
I had purchased some woolley bugger from Walmart last week and they look exactly like those one. The sparkling bits of strings is what gave it away for me.
I am a great supporter local fly shops! What was interesting about this was the selection. Fly shops should have bundles like this for beginners ready to go.
