Meta prints are usually so interesting, and the little details are so cool! Alice and the pirates have some really nice pieces too, I just feel like they're really elegant.
Yeah, I think it being closer to sax probably helps most people coord it. And I agree, Meta has a lot of really cool prints! I need to browse Meta on the secondhand market more often.

The Madoka dresses did worry me, as they seemed very cosplay-ish, and people often get cosplay and Lolita confused. I do really like them, but a bit too costumey to wear normally.
The madoka magica dress and set I think are totally cool. It’s an official collab between a lolita taobao brand and madoka magica - it’s also 100% cotton and it’s so adorable…… I’m so sad i wasn’t able to get the dress haha
I feel like the cthulu dress would be more fitting for a cosplay - it’s like those character inspired casual outfits that dokidoki has , you can wear them without cosplaying but they look really cool with a cosplay if u get what i mean??

Question: What about the small lolita businesses that are from Etsy (e.g. Glittertale and NightWhisperLolita etc)? When I wanted to get a lolita outfit for my size, I researched and someone suggested these brands. I looked at reviews and there are lots of different reviews from different people. These brands are inclusive to all the sizes.

I think the purple princess ribbon decoration would look great on you, like you said the impact of the bows being in a different colour helps them pop beautifully and it looks like it suits your style the best :) also dreamy night cakes and the accessories with it look like it would go super well with some of the stuff they did with happy garland, like I have the hoodie thing they put out for that in sax/yellow. All the cutsews and blouses that AP does are always such fun designs and have intricate details that I rarely see anywhere else, but I don't fit the sizing so it can be super hard trying to find stuff that looks fun and cute in a way that fits not only me but the rest of my wardrobe. A lot of indie brands do good ones for wearing under JSKs for example but it's harder to find stuff for wearing a skirt for example, so it can be super hard to get something that, like you said, makes you feel more balanced out and not bottom-heavy 😅
You're right about Dreamy Night Cakes and Happy Garland! They would probably be great together! And I also love their cutsews and blouses! But it's nice that similar alternatives can be found on Taobao, too. The cutsew I wore in the video is from VCastle and very similar to some AP ones. But yeah, I just wish some of them went better with Skirts! Would be really great to see some indie cutsews with super intricate prints! Thanks a lot for your comment!!
I know this video is old but I was wondering if Spreenow stores items in their warehouse? I used ParcelUp for a while and while they dont state it I would wait in between paychecks (14 days) from my orders shipping to their warehouse and me paying for shipping to my house without any additional fees. Does Spreenow allow this?

And you probably thought about this yourself, but if the buttons on the blouse and the dress are really the same, and you can't locate the lost button, you can take the lowest blouse-button (and replace it with a random button) to replace the lost JSK button.
I actually had not considered it, (which is funny, because I actually rarely button up the lowest buttons) so that is a great idea! Thanks for brining it to my attention! I also think it came with a couple extra buttons. I probably also should have mentioned that I do have the "lost" button, as well, haha. I just need her sewn back on!

I think my problem is that a lot of people use bittersweet to mean sweet in a black colorway. To me, bittersweet should literally be in between sweet and gothic. Like a black dress with a Halloween print in lavender that features bears and candy and coffins with crosses on them and bats and stuff. Like, I guess you could also call it creepy-cute? But I see that as a branch off of pastel goth or Harajuku Monster styles and not lolita specifically. I find lolita dresses like this are difficult to categorize as either sweet or gothic, so bittersweet fits. Idk this is just a bit pet peeve of mine and why I think bittersweet is hated by a large chunk of the community. If it was used the correct way, people probably wouldn’t have an issue with it lol
I should also mention that I realize my idea of bittersweet is very different from what the original livejournal post mentions. I think OP is silly and kind of rude to those who wear other styles. I freaking love the super OTT sweet 2010s dresses AND gothic lolita, which is why I’m really drawn to the dresses that are something in-between. I can’t stick to just one style!

Usually I think gatekeeping in Lolita is pretty justified. But Ms. Bittersweet wanting make a whole new 'substyle' just because she doesn't like pink is wild!
I could rant for a while about women who put down the color pink, and I don't even like pink that much. 😅 But that aside, thank you for the video! Bittersweet's always made sense to me as a simpler way of saying "I wear Sweet things in Black." You can have coords that are in no way Gothic, but give a different feel than pure sweet because everything's in black. I think that alone justifies it being considered a subgenre of the subgenre that is Sweet.
i remember watching a video where someone described it as the old school "scene" or "emo" looks but translated into lolita & i thought the term fit very well. what was described in the og post is definitely not what comes to mind for "bittersweet" for me
Lord I have seen those bunny ears and had the laugh of my life. People need to also check Mercari prices since half the dresses are from scammers and those demand so, so much higher prices than the original price. Plus they ruin the second hand market. By the way, as a fellow bittersweet / sweet on black Lolita, we should do a collab!
IKR, I checked after recording the video and now the price is down to $20, still waaay too overpriced. 💀And that sounds fun, I wouldn't mind that in the future! :D
