Firstly, cool that you attempted the comparison! Secondly, as far as I'm aware, Capture One mostly chimes better with the XTrans Sensor files with its native settings and sharpening, and that's the reason why most fuji enjoyers switch to it. GFX got a different sensor, so the test with your X-T5 might have been more interesting
I'm still rocking the XT1 and this EF-x8 flash. I'm not a pro, but when a flash is needed, this little inexpensive flash does a commendable job. I just leave it on now even for day time events, as the fill flash works wonders.
Just an FYI that this flash does not work with on a camera with a built in flash such X-T30,x100 etc.. Would not want to see someone struggle like I did wondering why it didn’t work on some of my camera bodies.
You are not wrong, a very straight to the point, practical review, mate. Great little flash. Works on my XT2 and XPRO-2. Unfortunately, I could not get it to work on my X100. 😢
Short version: Sometimes the flash look is not preferred. It is not easy to get the effects or the mood you want when everything is lit up. What it does however is make sure everything can be seen, and with practice and knowledge, the photos can come out fantastic. So, get it. It is the difference between getting the shot, or getting dark scenes (or faces).
My opinion is no, unless you are set on no accessories (battery grip) with your camera and use a light weight lens… Have also had a generally bad experience with extending the legs - sometimes it seems they lock up. I’m planning on replacing this with either a gorillapod or lightweight, but more expensive manfrotto.
Hey man great video, been loving the Velvia and NN recipes. Was wondering, for the NN do you overexpose the image and if so how much? Been having some difficulties getting a similar look with my jpegs, especially love the colors in the goat photos
Just found your channel and we have very similar taste in photography and gear; I also have a xt5 with a 23 f2 as well as a gfx (50s ii)😅 and the ef x8 and about to buy the peak design slide
Awesome stuff! Are Samuel Elkins and Julia Nimke big inspirations of yours by any chance? ;) Also a software engineer with a passion for photography here, love what you’re doing!
I always feel with Velvia my images turn out way too blue for my taste, so i haven't used it that much. Gonna try it now with the WB tweak you shared. Also just put in the recipe for your NN, looking forward to shooting some with it!
Really helpful and you inspired me to do similar in my neighborhood and surrounding area.. subscribed and looking forward to seeing your growth in w.e. your pursuing
Happy you found it helpful. I just checked out your street photography video and really enjoyed it. Will follow your content also and will keep an eye out for any restaurant photoshoot videos!
I use mine on minimum setting to trigger off camera flashes, which are set in slave mode. The EF-X8 also adds just a little fill flash, which is perfect! I wish it worked on all Fujifilm cameras.
I would absolutely recommend watching a tutorial or two on Capture One. It's a fantastic program but there are some important differences between it and Lightroom. I don't shoot Fuji, so there may be even more differences there. As you can tell, the exposure and HDR sliders in C1 behave a little differently, and C1 has the brightness slider, which is really nice to have. I miss it a great deal when using LR. The C1 color editing features are better, and you also have layers in C1 and a Levels adjustment, among other things. An intro tutorial would be a good idea. I've finally made the switch completely to C1.
Im an anateur photographer myself. Absolutely love my X-T5. Very excited for the eclipse on Monday. My daily carry was the 18-55 but im looking forward to testing my 10-24 that i picked up very cheap. :)
Hello Austin..very small flash for sure..did you look into the GODOX LUX Junior as an option..has that "vintage" style and look to it and still compact in the sense..from reviews on YT..its a nice other option for sure instead of those "big flashes"..you should look into it if you have not already..
Nice Velvia recipe! works great when light falls. I'm keeping it :) thank you. Do you happen to have a recipe for gray and cloudy days? I find it difficult to get beautiful JPEGs without editing when the weather is overcast. Good luck, I follow the channel :)
I have this since I got my xt2 but I’ve never even used it because it can only be used as a frontal flash which causes weird looking shadows in every shot. I feel it’s like using those on camera flashes included in semi profesional Canon cameras like 70d, 7d, etc. I mean it’s really nice how little it is but I would rather take photos on a super high iso or in super fast aperture.
For sure. It being fixed as a frontal flash means you do end up with a very specific look. Lucky for me, I enjoy the look and think it resembles old point and shoot flash photography. I'm also not using the flash for professional gigs and just casual shooting!
