I am Paul, K5GLH and this channel focuses mainly on ham (amateur) radio and severe weather. I am also interested in computer networking, voice over IP (VoIP), radio over IP (RoIP) and any form of radio or TV broadcast.
I can tolerate storms in the daytime but at night? I'd be in my bed, hiding and silently sobbing under my quilt!! Don't care if it's 30c and I'm pouring with sweat, I'm staying under that quilt until it's gone 😅😅
i know how you feel, i don't like storms at night either. I do the same thing, I don't come out from under my quilt until the storm is over. I keep the lights on so I don't see the flashes of lightning. it's nice too know I'm not the only one who hides during storms
This is a good storm Loving it... I live in the Philly area up north and we get nothing like this if anything at all when it comes to lightening and thunder. In Oklahoma you have to be vigilant of Tornadoes at all times when these types of storms roll through.
I would be definitely scared to live in Oklahoma or Louisiana because of the severity of thunder storms and Tornadoes... I could tell that there was No Tornado as not enough wind blowing, but enough lightening and thunder for sure?. This storm was brutal, but thank goodness No tornadoes followed. STAY SAFE!!
@@chrisshowering7357 Then you may not feel comfortable where I was standing. There is an 80 foot ham radio tower in our backyard behind me. That is why I made this video on the front porch and not the back porch. :)
Yep. When they started out in 1923, those were the call letters. In later years, they would be KYW, WKYC, WWWE, then in 1998, the calls reverted back to WTAM. 1100 had several different formats over the years. In the '60s, they were one of the premier Top 40 stations. They were even country for awhile in the early '80s. Truly a remarkable station, regardless of call letters.
They had a nasty habit of not powering down at night...I'm betting that's what happened here. I snagged them in Omaha a few years back, but they hadn't powered down.
That's awesome i always try to get my AM radio out at night and see what i can capture. I live in Kansas City, Mo. And speaking of KOKC which was KOMA i remember picking up KOMA at night here in KC back in the early 2000's when it was Oldies! What a great station OK City had going for them.. Too bad it wasn't Oldies still today..
I agree. Surprisingly, my wife and I were in North Pole, Alaska in 1996 and we tuned the radio on 1520 kHz and heard oldies music. We waited and eventually heard them announce KOMA. I was so excited and had no way of proving it because I was sitting out in the car in the cold.
Great video , I like the local news and stuff also did you notice how clean the audio sounded. I usually listen to them when I'm trying for KDKA neighbors on the dial.
