TCU was the best team Utah played that year (including Alabama). They were developing a real rivalry in the Mountain West before both teams went to difference conferences. Now they're back together and I imagine the rivalry will re-ignite.
Michigan really woke up in the second half, still had terrible lapses on defense allowing a draw for 70 yards on 3rd and 22, also a terrible missed tackle on the game winning kickoff return. Was a classic!
Boy i remember warching this game leaving orlando headed back to Alabama and when the kick 6 happen i was in opelika alabama and i stoped my vehichle and yelled out my car with excitement
One of my all time favorite games to rewatch. Pingback to my playlist of Greatest CFB games: ru-vid.com/group/PLbGLzzomCfA5HzIvP3gHTe3YnxMFswxlS IFL this channel.
I miss when this channel was actively dropping new Condensed edits; but they started blocking his well edited work. I downloaded the ones I love with Firefox and Savefromnet so I can watch with a 2 second skipback to rewind plays in progress. RU-vid has a 5 second rewind which isn't terrible...unlike NFLGamepass's 10 second garbage. So now that nobody is condensing games I can still get thru 3 hour broadcasts in 1 hour by Fast forwarding from whistle to presnap read.
Floridas first 2 tds drives were 45 and 37 yards. U can’t do that in a big game. Also Tressel panicked at the end of the 1st Half. It was a 24-14 game and Ohio state goes for it on their on 30 yard line. Which it looked like beanie got the first down.
I bought about $200 worth of booze and food to watch this game with friends, and there was a huge ice storm that day so I ended up watching alone. I was still ecstatic with the outcome. It was not Cam's best game of the season by far, but Auburn's defense (Nick Fairley) was the difference, from the safety to the shoestring tackle to set up the 4th down stuff at the goal line. War Eagle!
One thing I noticed is that there were several fantastic football plays on defense for both teams that would’ve been called targeting today. It is the targeting call and rules like it that make classics of this level nearly impossible to see today.
The 1998 Rose Bowl also ended this way. The clock stopped at 2 seconds to move the chains after a first down, the trailing team’s QB spiked the ball, but the clock had run out.
