That Delta mechanism is really clever! I recently learned that the shunt I have is the Delta, and while it hasn't been working for over 10 years now, I wouldn't be very surprised if the failure is in the distal catheter instead of the shunt valve.
I’m a patient who has one of these to help regulate excess C.S.F that I have, as a result of successful, and extensive neurosurgery. Thanks for posting this.
ive been having massive migraines for months and I'm waiting for my Neurosurgeon to look at my CT scans to see what to do. I think my shunt pressure is just getting to low for the system to handle. I'm not sure what to tell you about your situation other than to talk to a Neurosurgeon.
My VP Shunt surgery was one month ago today. I am amazed and happy with the result. My big 3 symptons corrected right away. The only complaint is that I am periodically having sharp pains in my abdominal area. Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be the catheter somehow causing irritation?
Hello, I’ve had a shunt for 9 years coming up to ten in June. Yes, it’s totally normal it could be weather/pressure changes or it could just be from movement that either you are doing or the pumping pressure that the shunt is doing as it’s a foreign object in the body. Hope this helps.
Did you ever figure out what it was? I was just reading about this patient who had sharp pains also afterwards but other than that felt great, it turns out the end of shunt had shifted and was poking towards/on his liver somehow? I have a family member who’s about to get a shunt so Ive just started reading/learning about it, and came across that report… please let me know if you figured out what caused your issues…
