New Subscriber here, I have a 2023 EN currently with 3800 miles and it's still on factory oil. I won't change it till about 6k miles. You'll be fine. I didn't even change the oil early when I had my 2019 Civic Type R
This video popped up in my feed so I'll go ahead and comment. I went through the same dilemma with my Golf R, and sounds like a pretty similar situation. There's a huge debate about the merits of this. From what I can tell, there's really no harm to doing it, but is it necessary, that's another question. I ended up changing my oil at 1500 mi, figuring it could only have upsides long term. I also followed a pretty strict break in period, but again, there's debate about how necessary this is. One thing that surprised me is that VW recommended oil changes every 10k mi, but the tech at the dealership told me I'll want to do it least every 3-5k to keep it running smoothly. With these performance oriented cars, you may want to change oil on the earlier side. I suspect they set these numbers off the base models.
1k is wayyyy too long. Bro you gotta get oil changes in that car every 250 miles, don't listen to the manual that's a dealership scam to ruin your car. Seriously change your oil at 250 miles, trans fluid after 15 miles, coolant after every drive. Make sure you replace your oil pick up screen every 750 miles. Also be sure to check all hoses and connections usually they need to be changed after 900ish miles....🎉😂
I would highly recommend PPF for at least the whole front, trust me save yourself from rock chips and other minor cosmetic damage. A full front end PPF should not be over $2000. I got my front done and I do not regret it one bit. ✌When you buy a new phone, first thing you get is a screen protector. So why spend 50k on a car and not protect it.
@@22n5 is it a noticeable difference if you just get the front end ppf? Seems like ideally I would get the full. Also the matte ppf looks so cool. And I never have cases or screen protectors on my phones, I just hold it tight so I don’t drop it 😂
Anything Performance or turbo charged I would change every 3k, And that's with Top Shelf synthetic. Being that its a Hyundai or Kia, Either of these motors I would be faithful to 3k miles.
Yo, just wanted to say I found your channel over the last few weeks looking into the EN. I decided to pull the trigger and I’m taking a train up to Seattle on Friday to pick up my new abyss black EN. I appreciate your vids and you def influenced me in my decision. On the oil change, I’ve been driving a 2012 Mazdaspeed 3 since it had 3 miles on it and I’m just hitting 85k. I went with factory recommendations and got my first oil change at 5k. It’s had full synthetic since the first oil change and she runs solid. If there are any kind of metal shavings they will most likely get caught up in the filter. I feel like it’s a non issue for break in. I do remember the smell of the engine during the break in, I was so concerned I called the dealership but it’s natural for some oil burn smell while things heat up and settle.
Nice! I'm excited for you, that'll be a fun trip. Glad you've been enjoying the channel. And I appreciate your perspective. I def think it's an overly cautious thing to change it so early in this case. It's been great to learn more about common practices and about how cars have improved over the years.
Interesting! Here the first oil change is free at 6K miles. Although I have heard of some dealerships doing it a lot earlier for people in a few cases.
@@ForrestDelBTS If were you I would change oil at 2k km and after that every 5-6 k km. In Japan for example oil is changed every 5 k km or every 6 month depends of what happens first.
Yes. And you can change it every thousand miles if you want. I'm still waiting for the RU-vid video where a engine failed because the oil was changed too often. .
I would just change it as soon as you break it in. I just changed my oil on my WRX RS at 1400km. as it is right now, there are metal flakes in your oil, you probably want to get that out, why risk long term damage to the engine to save max $100? You just bought a brand new car, trust me preventative maintenence is something you don't cheap out on. At the very least you'll have the peace of mind!
This isn't a question about money though, oil changes are cheap. This is a question of is it necessary. From what I've learned, metal flakes are normal when breaking a car in. 1K is early and seems to be an overly cautious thing, at least with the 24 EN. I totally understand doing it, I just don't understand when people talk about long term damage specifically from not changing at 1K. Would love to find an example of that. Makes sense to be susceptible to long term damage if you wait until like 10K or something.
Ive always changed anyrhing performance related at around 1 to 2000 for the first oil change mostly thats with motorbikes for me and when doing it there were metal pieces in the oil as the engine did break in. Having said that though the motorbikes ive had are more highly strung engines than most cars are. However at the same time you want your engine to get broken in properly too and having metal pieces break up during that is normal its just a little bit is fine let it do its thing but id probably find a happy medium for this car say 3000 or so for the first one but thats just me and my 2cents haha
The performance blue is iconic. It was my first choice but ultimately decided that abyss black fits me way better. The PB is def gonna turn heads, while the black is very low key which I like.
Nice car, I love the refresh, the wheels and seats are great, and the front end is so much cleaner than the release design. I could have easily bought this when I was looking/buying two years ago. A tip from a fellow car guy: Don't "touch" your car. I heard the part of the video where you said "I don't know why people say black cars are..." Don't learn the lesson for yourself, just trust. Otherwise, you'll get swirl marks, which in black can be pretty bad. Those marks are not actually swirls, but an optical illusion of mostly straight line scratches. Automatic car washes that touch the car do this, and then the next most common, while washing in the driveway. Learning how to do the two bucket or touchless method for washing helps. (During the initial Covid shutdown period, I went very deeply down the "color correction" rabbit hole with a 20-year-old car. I had a serious polisher and about 10 different goos. One of them smelled like [amazing] raspberries, I remember. I see your enthusiasm, it's the same as mine, just trying to help.)
@@justingallagher4864 thanks for the tips! I’ve been sticking to touchless self wash and will stay away from automatic washes. I got some good microfiber towels to wipe my car down but I have noticed a few swirls when the car is directly in the sun although it’s minimal. I’m hoping to get ppf soon.
@@ForrestDelBTS Everything I know, I learned from Pan the Organizer. Every goo I've bought, hmm, first, what does Pan think? You'd say that he's a vibe, maybe. "Pleasantly pedantic."
In a few years I’ll get an Elantra N. Currently driving a 23’ Kona N in racing red, love every moment with this car. But very clean car indeed bro, hope you’re enjoying your Elantra N congrats 🎉
With the new-style wheels no less - congratulations! I didn't like the old wheel at all, simply because they looked so heavy. i bet these new ones are forged and weigh so much less.
I 100% agree that people treat you way differently in sportier cars. I had my Elantra N for like a couple weeks and this one day I almost accidentally merged into some. (I'm pretty sure they were speeding bcc I checked my blindspot before, but thats whatever). Anyways, I didn't even get into the guy's lane and was able to control my car and keep it in my lane, but the guy just went crazy and started honking and shit. He even swerved in front of me to brake-check me, but I was able to get around him and speed off. People like that are just so immature and take stuff so personally when it really has nothing to do with them. I felt bad for the guy's girl who was in the car, but ig thats what you get for being with a man-child.
@@maxshin450 yeah I hate that. Best part about this car is you can just maneuver around those ppl easily and don’t have to worry about getting stuck behind some psycho lol just leave them in the dust so they can drive crazy all by themselves 😂
Lmao it’s always truck drivers I swear. I have a Kona N me and some person in a lifted truck where making a turn and he tried to speed up to get in front of me for no reason. So we both kept speeding up till about 50 and then I just floored it. Dude rolling coal in my rearview mirror trying to catch up 😂 like dude get away from me Edit: I have a dashcam also. It’s worth it for the peace of mind in case anything ever happens! Edit 2: There’s a NC N Club you should check out! I’m in the TN N club and most of us are in east TN so if we are ever doing something and you feel like driving up I-26 to the tri-cities you should haha! We have Cars & Coffee at Bristol Motor Speedway every 2nd Saturday of the month and some of us from the N group go to them often
@@RoxUnlimited lmao yeah some truck drivers just have a dangerous mindset and a limited knowledge of their car’s capabilities. I’d be down to hang with the NC crew! I’m supposed to be out there sometime next month so we’ll see 🙌🏽
