Man, I saw Brant play in Geelong Australia at Easter this year. I'd never really heard of him before. How long had I been missing out on this? Definitely my new favorite rocker.
I kinda feel like I’m listening to my non musician friends pretending to be “experts” about music. Not saying you have to be a musician to be knowledgeable about music, but they definitely don’t record those conversations and call it a podcast.
Jacob is AI. He might be the smartest musical mind in the world but everything he writes sounds like ass. Including his voice. I do think knowing too much theory can create a worse final product. Jacob is very fun to listen to talk. But listening to his music is like forcing yourself to read the terms and conditions of a new iPhone update.

58:14 There have been 3 recording groups in my entire life that have captured my attention in such a way that I could just listen repeatedly and not get tired of it at all - Tool, King Crimson, and Emily Wolfe. As of this month, in 2023, over 50 years since King Crimson started recording all three have played live together - it blows my mind and makes it feel like I was destined to be a fan of hers. Emily rocks.
So glad you brought up The Slider at the Conservatory video! the recording, the live take, the 12 string on the double neck - every aspect of that video is perfect. I just wish I could throw more money at Emily to have the live audio from that show! all of the live stuff has been so in the moment that I really hope there's a chance they'll be available. Live album, please?!
Love these interviews. It's a way to get to know more about the band on a personal level as individuals and musicians. They are a great group of guys and excellent musicians.❤
