Battle Guide Virtual Tours was born from a collaboration between historians and battlefield guides across the globe who have a passion for military history and a joint desire to share that knowledge and enthusiasm with a worldwide audience. Traditionally the experience of visiting battlefields has been one which has not been available to all. A great number of limitations, be they geographical, occupational or financial have always existed, and for that reason, many people find themselves unable to make a journey to physically visit a historic site (a journey we would certainly recommend).
For the closing moments of the video, it would have been worth mentioning John Frost. He was leading the 1st Airbourne Division Spearhead at Arnhem until eventually the Paras ran out of ammunition and after 4 days of fighting he had to surrender spending the next 6 months in a POW camp until liberated by the Americans in March 1945
This is r 1st battle that us AIRBORNE warrior's under tock! An completed !! BEST AB in the world we are lad! I had 4'uncle's who was in this rade an all the way to the bridge to far!! Gd job well done by us PARAS! AB ALL THE WAY BROTHER FROM A OLDSWET self an ex'service AB ALL THE WAY BROTHER!! ❤❤😊😊
Fabulous show! Big admirer of the Bruneval raid. Frost actually commanded the 2nd Para Battalion at the Arnhem bridgehead of Operation Market Garden. An amazing individual.
All of these videos are of a quality like no others iv yet to see on RU-vid and iv seen many.. Just incredible , the background. The plans. The personal story's of real men with faces to put to,. Just magnificent. Exceptionally well done.. As good as they get on these subjects. I applaud you for the remarkable work...
Wouldnt have been strange england knew all about radar even more so than germans but extremely interested how germans were doing radar a possible war winner so snatch a copy.
If you watch the Battle of the Beams video, there's more ample explanation of the context of this raid. Doctor R V Jones gives a detailed account of how much he knew about the Luftwaffe navigation technology and how this played out afterwards. Unbelievably, there were some in Whitehall and the top brass who up until then didn't take him seriously enough.
@@franc9111 Even more insane than that! The secret of German radar was leaked to the British as part of the Oslo Report in 1939, but it was ignored. Then two only a few months later the Graf Spee was sunk, which had radar. Even though the British had inspected the wreck and determined that it had a radar, it was again ignored by the British Command. This along with plenty of other situations that only to the answer of German radar up until this point in the war was continuously ignored by Command. Even after this raid, the British Command were still reluctant to accept it.

Rather negligent of the Germans to leave such an important and technologically advanced piece of equipment so blatantly exposed and with no attempt to camouflage or disguise it!
At this point they had steamrolled everyone they attacked aside from the British islands. They were overconfident and assumed it was only a matter of time before Britain fell, too.
been there some years ago. I shed a tear or two then, I shed another now. Such bravery, such waste. lest we forget. my great grandfather was nearby, he survived this day but no too many more.
Great Job!!!!! Awesome clip, and the detailed narration along with the visuals provided made this a remarkable recollection of one of the most historic battles in World history.
And thy re all in arms about Isral. These prople it no notice to moveto safety, they got no leaflets in the ail to warn them the Germans were coming. Not only the men were murdered but also women and children. Little children!! Just has barbaric and Satanic as Hamas!!
My fathers artillery unit was sent to this bridge to defend it from air attacks. Because he could speak many languages he was then sent on to interrogate prisoners.
Excellent presentation. Thanks for all your hard work . My Grandfather ( West yorks) was shot by machine gun, in the left leg 4 wounds, here. Rescued from the mire by Germans , he had contracted tetinous and the enemy Doctors ,in my mind , saved his life. After some time he was rescued by Australians or New Zealanders and taken to a British Hospital. I still have a photo of the men in his ward with signatures on the back. He was awarded 2 chevrons, not sure what that means. He married in 1926 had 3 children, the eldest, my Uncle , served in the RAF .He died 1984 in Essex.
Eleven thousand Australian names on the Menin Gate in Ypres Belgium all missing with no known grave, 11 thousand! Well done with the video hard to believe how many are still missing from all country's involved. I know they have found some over the years but only a small amount. It's hard to believe that this amount of soldiers could just disappear off the face of the earth. Lets just hope that they rest in peace where ever they are, bloody hell.
Pershing was very very very lucky, the panther didn't understand if the Pershing was friendly or not because American used primarily Shermans....the commander gave the order to hold fire, when they did undestand they got shot.... War is hell
Was soll daran Schlimm sein?
Only reason German panther didn't blow the s**t outa the pershing is 'cause it mistook it for 1 of their own. Result would have been much different. Put that in the history books,
There was no way that Hitler and Eva Bron We’re burned without recognition, and the only thing that was found probable was Hitler’s partial, you know how much it takes, or how much energy it takes to incinerate a body? 2000°, even if they put accelerant on their bodies, it would’ve not, I repeat it would’ve not incinerated their bodies, it needs to be in a controlled. Atmosphere, so Hitler did in my opinion escape to Argentina. I’ve been around cremations, and I should know, and I cannot believe how intelligent individuals, cannot comprehend that that did not happen, it was no way in this world that just with gas accelerate, their bodies were burned without recognition no way no way it takes 90 minutes in an adult body to be cremated, in a controlled place, so Hitler and Eva were not set on fire that day somebody else was.
Thank you for having made this historical video. It is part of French history and should never be forgotten. The cruelty of the Nazi's during the WW11. This be a lesson for human kind. God Bless🙏🙏
