I use the channel to post videos of some of my projects. My hobbies are Aquariums, Vintage Computers, and anything with Vacuum tubes. I have a large collection of vintage computers and a growing collection of vintage tube amplifiers and televisions. Please feel free to ask questions, I am happy to help if I can. Also, as you can tell from the music in most of my videos... I am a RUSH fan.
These have horrible color demodulation it took forever for me to set up my drives and screens and the color control versus fine-tuning is difficult as well, it never seems to be quite right.
I have an older antenna. And today I use a multimeters set just to hear if I had a signal path.( set on continuity setting) I was wondering how these roof top antennas work .Does the aluminum square tube collect all the vibrations and electrical vhf & uhf signals from the (cross way) elements. So I had a couple fasteners to the elements that were rusted that didn't have a clear path for the RF signal anymore. I called those dead elements, unless I drill out the old rivet ant put in a clean new one that will conduct current flow. I would of thought ( of coarse I have no idea what brand it is ) but it did have that yellow sticker. they would of used fasteners that wouldn't rust.
You've already put the antenna together wrong on the second section you're working on! the top elements on the top should all be facing one way the bottom elements should be all facing one way!
Its more efficient & the VHF section has a truss insulator over/ under phase system for longevity. Solidsignal version crossphase single insulators wont last near as long
Nice looking antenna, hope some day i can have big antenna like that, in my country only available simple shape of antenna and only use uhf signal in my country
just wondering how you like this antenna since you've installed it? Any amplifiers on it or rotor? I'm interested in buying this model. I want to get the best and I believe this may be the best available. thank you very much
If you assemble this unit that its best NOT to fully open the VHF longer elements until you get it on the roof & ready to raise it this will help prevent damage to the longer elements ( balance) if it falls! while installing
It's like being back in the1980's. I loved Rush, bass guitar, old Fords and electronics. I had a stereo 6BQ5A push-pull Magnavox amp from my uncle which i loved to play loud in the basement when i could get away with it. Home-made speakers and whatever i cobbled together. And there was my STA-52a and my Nova 5 speakers and the ubiquitous Gerrard turntable with the plastic case and the $20 upfitted magnetic phono cartridge from Radio Shack. That was a fun place to look at stuff and get some parts. Catalog was like a school textbook to me. I'm still trying to remember the song. Emotion Detector from Power Windows Rush album? God Bless
