I was a crazy teen that wheelied everything I could ride but never been able to get the GL1800 interested it coming off the ground! I think I need to try harder. Most bikes will accommodate you if you're willing; not this one.
I can''t tell if you're asking a question or making a statement. I can tell you a cop has NEVER "bothered" me due to my choice in bulbs either on my bike or any of my vehicles. Maybe cops bother you for other reasons.
I have purchased 2 separate LED packages. Both had connectors to the GL1800 harness that were too small. Please help. Is there an adapter or what brand of Leds do I need to get?
If you're using MapSource, just click on the route and then click again to get the "rubber band" and then drag the route into the new road. Either that or drop some new waypoints on the map and then add the waypoints into the route. You'll probably have to rearrange the waypoints so the route follows the waypoints properly.
Amazon. It's a USB A Male to Mini B Male. They're not expensive. The GPS can be updated easily using Garmin Express. Hopefully, you have the 660LM (Lifetime Maps), otherwise it'll cost you to update.
@@filoIII Open the battery compartment and remove the battery to determine if it's a 660LM. Cable: www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Charging-Controller-Players-Receiver/dp/B00P0GI68M
I noticed that you removed the top shroud (I can see the speaker). Everyone else says to do it by feel. If you remove the speaker can you get to the high beams easier then up through the side pockets. I would have no problem removing that stuff just to be able to get my hands in there and be able to see. Doing this stuff by feel drives me nuts and usually takes me more time than if I just removed the stuff that's in the way to begin with.
While changing a quartz (OEM) bulb can be done by feel, I personally prefer giving myself as much room as possible, especially since you should be tying the cords and power regulator for the LED bulbs. In this video, not only did I take off the dash, but I also pulled the instrument cluster up and out of the way to give myself room. Doing all of this doesn't really help on the high-beams. The bulbs can only be accessed through the fairing pockets.
Thanks for your reply. Saved me a lot of time from removing a speaker just to find out it won't help. I can envision hours of my life just getting that little spring clip on while doing the high beams. I struggled doing the low beams. This is something that I will be doing in the next month. At least the LED's should last as long as the bike. Fingers crossed.
your video shows one of the infuriating aspects of the 665 and the 550 before it, ie, lack of the ability to truly customize. "If you touch the motorcycle" your choices are Hospital, Police Station and Fuel. IN well over 200k miles of riding, though they are important, I have NEVER needed to find a hospital or a police station. And, I have ALWAYS wanted items near my current route or my destination. Yet, there is no way to customize these to avoid myriad clicks to get to them. Some good features though a stupid design team. I really wish some android company or Apple or Google would make their own dedicated gps to compete with the garmin clowns
I am very interested in your lighting as I am looking at doing the same .Where did you get your LEDs and which part number did you go with ? Also where are you located? Jim sandblaster007@yahoo.com
The issue with fitting aftermarket LED or HID bulbs is not the amount of light that they produce but what they do with it and how the reflector and lens aim it. Shining the camera into the light shows nothing. Nor does bouncing the light off of a garage door. Take the bike out onto a rural road and show how it lights the road.
+Dave M The output points of the LED's on this bulb EXACTLY match the output points on the stock, quartz halogen bulbs. These bulbs aren't your normal "LED bulbs" that have a half dozen or so emitters. Having now had these bulbs installed for 6 weeks, these bulbs "light up the road" FAR better than the stock halogen bulbs and even better than the HID's I had installed previously. I am patiently waiting for another set of these bulbs to install into my hi-beams and then I'm going to take the bike out to THIS ROAD (tinyurl.com/z9zxg6q) which is far from any city lights, late at night and take some pictures and video. The results should quiet the naysayers.
OK. Sounds great. Eagerly awaiting the pix and test results. I too have HIDs in the low beams. They're OK sorta. And most likely the LEDs will last the life of the bike. Especially since accessing the highbeam holes on a GW1800 is such a PITA. TIA
+Dave M Here you go! I still have not received the second of these bulbs for my high beams. This video shows the LED's in the low beams and the quartz halogen in the high beams. Hope this helps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QH_7a5WCW7g.html
