I would like to inquire about the question at the time off 22:22. I thought it would be B because it does not address any rituals or her culture within the prompt of the scenario.
Also exploring the feelings can help learn what the client is looking for or feels she's lacking which could support the proper referral based on needs
I just want to tell you the Priority/presenting problem really help me along with understanding the subjective and objective helped me understand how to answer the stem. Thank you for this because I passed my exam because of you and Raytube!😊
Thank you!!! I watched this video before I tested (and many of your other videos). I took the clinical exam today and passed by 25 points!! I think your way of breaking down the questions is the absolute BEST on RU-vid. I appreciate that you've shared these videos for everyone to watch for free. I will highly recommend you and your videos and program to all my colleagues. ❤
Kimberley thanks so much for your breakdown and support. On Q12…I didn’t think a school social worker needed consent as she is apart of the school system. That threw me off. I also don’t have school experience. Thanks for the breakdown.
In most cases yes, but in this case I think because he expressed that he recently lost his wife. I dont think it would be ethical to not show empathy and compassion first before starting the MSE.
“Nope!! We don’t do that up in here. That’s what the other people teach. I don’t teach that first” This stood out to me because for a long time, I was always going with the Acronym and going with answers that focused on acknowledging feelings as my first choice. It would work with their practice questions, but would hit a wall with others. It’s not until NOW is see the light on knowing how to breakdown and answer these questions properly and not with one method that is sometimes flawed which is going straight to Acronyms!! Great Stuff Savvy 💪🏾
Hey sis! Just wanted to come on and let you know I passed my Clinical Examination. I could not have done it without you. The way you taught us to break down those questions is amazing. God bless you and your gift to teach! lol, I kept hearing your voice say, "where they say that at?"🤣🤣🤣
Just wanted to let you know that I passed my exam today with the help of your videos !!! I watched almost all of them and felt they helped so much. Keep doing what you’re doing, thanks so much!!!
The second to last question stumped me because it says initial assessment and I thought we were in the assessment stage. Refer seemed like an intervention.
You refer based on the priority issue. Keep in mind that you can refer at any phase of the helping process if the priority issue is beyond your scope of services.
Q8 doesn't make the most sense to me. I understand answering the question how the exam wants us to. I understand why the answer is the answer. Focusing on the here and now and on the client's presenting problem at hand and why they wanted to seek treatment. Sure. I would definitely have concerns about the possible safety of the children given the history of abuse as to not perpetuate the cycle of abuse for the same reason why the client started services in the first place. While we would address what the client came in for, is making a mandated report not also warranted? Hoping the point of this exam is to truly assess the SWs judgment in doing the right thing and not just being able to pass the exam the textbook way, because the textbook says its right. My concern with this question in general is, are we truly assessing for SW's ability to do the right thing or to just pass an exam?
This was confusing since the therapist is working in an agency that works with adult sex offenders. If the client is working with clients, the question is not about one client but clients in general. I believe the social worker is the target person in this case. Help me understand why we would refer all the clients. thank you
I was confused on this as well. The SW is at a clinic that exclusively sees sex offenders. Transferring the client won't resolve the issue- since presumably she has more than one. Asking herself if this setting is right her and (presumably) leaving seems like the logical next sequence of events.
The only way C would make sense is if clients and client was a typo- and the vignette met client. That would make it an ethical consideration in which the person must not be practicing without competency. In that case, yes, the next step is to transfer the client so he/ she is not harmed.
I don’t understand why we shouldn’t focus on his childhood experiences because it stated that his use doesn’t affect his academic performance in the priority problem but the presenting problem states that his academic is declining??
I have an updated comment! I took my exam today and PASSED!! First time trying!! I was so nervous I thought my heart would beat right out of my chest lol but I did it. Thank you so much for these videos!
These videos were phenomenal I used the study tips and practice question videos. You do a great job at breaking down so well I passed my test on the first try thank you for all you have done to help support the new LCSW’s
You do a nice job. I like that you get to the point without being unnecessarily chatty , yet address the necessary and important points thoroughly. Very Nice. I test next month in Arizona.
Thank you so much for your amazing videos and framework for approaching the ASWB exam. You are saving my life. I take the exam this Tuesday and I have waaaay less stress because your reasonable approach helps me so much. I have learned so much clinical thinking from your videos, even more than I got in my masters program... you're amazing. Please keep up the good work and I will be following and continuing to learn with you beyond the test. Thank you for making us good therapists beyond the test.
