Thanks, although the Gazelle is a much larger helicopter it has very similar characteristics to the Cabri G2 that I originally trained in to get my PPL(H)
@@HeliPilotPaul I'm not familiar with the Cabri G2. My first rotary flight was in a Hiller 12E. (Say no more..). But what was the hourly cost of dual in a Gazelle? Not cheap, in the UK, I'd say.
Great video and some excellent flying ,i am local to the area what/where was the castle building that is mentioned just of the m23? Also had my first Cessna 152 flight out of Redhill really enjoyed that.
Thanks for the comment, it still brings a grin to my face. He had to demolish it. It was just south of the airfield, if you do a search for Honeycrock Farm you will find some old articles about it. I used to fly a Cessna 152 before helicopters, great aircraft 👍
Thats a rusty old Disco you've got there Paul!! I patched mine up a few years ago. I actually welded the box section and repaired the end of the gas strut. It doesn't get a lot of use and is now pretty much seized up. But I'm due to weld up my rear chassis before the MOT, so will probably give it a bit of maintenance then. Could make an interesting video!.
Hi Paul just seen video and i was wondering if you would be interested in piloting me through the heli lanes on a sightseeing tour next week? please let me know best regards Tom
Hi Tom, sorry only just saw your comment. I'm not current at the moment and with everything covid going on at the moment I don't think it will be soon.
Before I remove it, I can assume the square-section steel support has been bent/deformed then. Not sure how successful I will be straightening it once removed! Checked new Genuine LR replacement assembly (Rimmer Bros) - AUD 339.72, and of course shipping to Australia.
Thanks Paul for the tip - much appreciated! Have recently been using a trailer - was reversing in the dark in a confined space and the trailer jack-knifed: the rear step (in perfect knick) got bent badly and pushed into the rear bumper! Will have to remove the step now and then see if I can somehow straighten it all up!
Ouch sorry to hear that , glad the video helped. Hopefully you can repair it or replace it with a used one in good condition. Let me know how you get on 👍
Removed the step - support bracket bent but step in great nick otherwise. Wonder if bracket can be removed easily and straightened (held by a couple of long pins)? Don't think RU-vid allows me to upload a photo?
Nice Push yes you do. However the guy I was flying with was an instructor so it was classed as a training flight and he’s qualified to show me. I hold a helicopter Private Pilots License (PPL H) and even if I had a type rating to fly the Gazelle I’d still need another type rating to fly another turbine (ec120) as pilot in command.
@@HeliPilotPaul Thank you for sharing. You're a lucky man; these Gazelle's look and sound like no other. I had some ride alongs in an Alouette 3 in the early 90ies, loved every bit of it.
I am so jealous that this is your first turbine flight. I'd love to fly one but I know the chances are slim to none on that. Great video and congratulations - I'm sure it was awesome! subscribed
