Great video!! 0-5 taught me a bunch! I’ve been seeing a lot of success with 4 accent stirring 3 malevolent rumbles as the search/draw package Also I think 2 surgicals main is important. At its worst, it is a free mana gather hand info. 0 baubles. I have a list on mox field that I have been having success with.
This sounds interesting, i'd be curious to see your list. If you're in the Lantern community Discord, post it in there! A lot of folks have been off Stirrings because it doesn't grab key sideboard tech like Collective Brutality, boardwipes, and Tear Asunder, and it can't guarantee you hit something you actually want. Compared to cards like Whir (which is a guaranteed tutor at a steep deckbuilding cost) or Profane Tutor (finds anything, but slower), Stirrings has shrunk from an auto-4 to an average of ~2 slots in stock lists. However, if you add Rumbles, you might be able to churn hard enough to find lock pieces. The extra little chump blocker/ potential ramp in future turns is utility that would be fun to consider as well! I might need to consider that for future brews.
I love your content but you reeaaallly need to up your mic by ~50% (at least) in editing. Even with YT maxed hearing you over just general background noise is tricky, and I have to pump my PC's volume to hear clearly (at which point other sounds'll deafen me).
I'll adjust recording volume. I've been tinkering with normalizing volume and manually adjusting sections where I forget to by close to the microphone and talk quietly. My editing skills are...not good q.q . In-game sounds are pretty unimportant, I can turn those down easy. Thanks for feedback, it's hard for me to test that properly on my end so this kind of stuff is very important to hear about!
@@entuo A rule of thumb for editing for YT is it's generally better to go a little too loud than too quiet, because if it's too loud people can turn it down, but YT reeaaally limits how much you can turn it up. Most good editing software (I think Resolve has it as well? I use Vegas) can also auto-equalize your audio to really save time on audio editing. You generally wanna run throughit yourself quickly afterwards, but it's otherwise fine. Either way, keep up the content. It's great to watch. You have a really nice and relaxed atmosphere that I really appreciate.
@@StevenTheWonderPony I'm editing the next video right now, I just dug through some of the audio options. I've forgotten to put MTGO on its own audio track and my limited skills can't suppress the noises without garbling the voice unfortunately. However, I did find where to apply compressor/limiter tools, so it should sound a bit more stable in the future (although the compressed sound is definitely different than raw audio). I seem to have a habit of getting really quiet once the games go long xD. There is a "normalize audio" function on render as well, but I don't think this will adjust volume beyond leveling the peaks. Either way, we'll see how the next one comes out! Thanks for the input and kind words ^_^

Short answer: Honestly not sure, if I was pressed hard I'd say BG but the decks have different advantages in different matchups. Come August ban update, things are likely to shake up too, so we'll have to see in a few weeks. Longer answer: Whir is nice for games where you need specific sideboard hate pieces and redundant Ensnaring Bridges. BG feels more versatile and can assemble things faster, though, which is nice vs deck where you want to assemble the Lantern lock quickly. Whir is nice because you have instant tutor effects built into the deck, so you don't need to plan as many turns in advance for specific lock pieces. However, Whir is slower and clunkier, which matters vs a lot of the go-wide meta right now in Energy Midrange shells. If Nadu eats a ban in the August update, we'll have to see what the meta looks like to determine which list is better. I think I want to learn BG a bit better, so I might switch to that for the next couple videos, and I think it's better vs the top-tier decks at the moment. If more combo and graveyard decks are kicking around, I think Whir might be the better choice. But we'll see! If you're looking to build one or the other as your first list, I would recommend building BG. It's less volatile in any given meta, it's a bit cheaper, and more people play it anyways. It'll be more helpful for when you're looking for gameplay/deckbuilding advice, since more people are familiar with that list. Feel free to join the Discord link above if you need example lists! If you're deadset on UB, it works fine too, you just may have a harder time getting detailed feedback. Thanks for posting!
I used to run Bloodchief's Thirst over the Pushes in my builds pre-MH3. If my main reason for playing creature removal is to hit Tamiyo in control lists and for hyper-aggressive matchups, the timing restrictions of Bloodchief's Thirst hurts a lot. I've had games where I had the Thirst in my starting hand, but I couldn't sequence things properly because my opponent didn't have creatures on the board yet, but certainly will on their next turn. Push's revolt trigger is easier to proc than I gave it credit for in this deck, too, which is partially why I like Push more now. In meta where planeswalkers matter more and the format slows down, I may revisit Bloodchief's Thirst -- its flexibility is really powerful ^_^
Haha this league didn't have a ton of Needle targets, unfortunately. Needles are generally pretty good though, and I think I undervalue cards that don't have clear immediate value in my starting hands. Make no mistake, Needle is amazing on average!
Two quicks things I failed to mention in-video: 1. I'm working on finding good music to add to the videos, let me know how the music integrates right now! One thing I’d love to see is a comparison between BG and UB lantern. Obviously UB gives whir, but I’m interested to know how advantageous that is over the BG lists having Assassin’s Trophy and Ancient Stirrings. Great videos, I’m really enjoying learning more about this archetype!
If I'm being honest, I think BG is the more versatile list. I will post some videos in the future with other flavors of Lantern eventually, and hopefully I can highlight the differences in those Leagues. Trophy is a big deal, you're right. Stirrings is nice, but whiffs on a lot of sideboard cards in BG lists, so post-board it doesn't feel so great. A big sideboard card in green that I don't get to use it Tear Asunder -- losing access to that feels really brutal. In general, I'd say that BG is more well-rounded game 1, while Whir can have a more versatile sideboard plan and is better at finding redundant Bridges or lock pieces in the mid-/late-game. The Lantern Discord's mostly on BG, if you wanted a list I would ask over there for some suggestions! Otherwise, I'm sure I'll be doing something with BG in the coming few weeks ^_^. Nice game! In the neobrand game, I think you thought that endurance shuffled your whole library. It only puts the cards on the bottom of your library, so the pithing needle on top wasn’t a surprise

Lol Match 1 Game 3 was a rollercoaster of emotions xD. They played well, this matchup is really stacked against them and they took the game all the way to the wire. Props to them!
Is this in response to Match 2 Game 1? I think extracting the sagas would've made sense, that's a good point. I didn't know what their Sagas could tutor yet, and Shambling Ghast is not a very important card for me to Extract. Thanks for pointing that out ^_^. Thanks for commenting.
@@entuo hi! my concern wasn't about the tutors, but the information about the double saga hand was known, and the sheer size and the continuity of their gameplan ought to be stopped, regardless of tutor. also, shuffle effect! I know that the time Frame to extract would have been just one after the trigger on the first chapter on the second saga, but would have avoided the constructor's blowout. anyhoo. I didn't mean anything bad by commenting that, I am just a silly gal shouting "extract those saga!!" at the screen 😊. I love lantern, although I mostly play legacy. but since is easier to find a modern FNM I will rebuild lantern. will be golgari, I believe. big fan of veil of summer. ciao
@@artist91fb Good points, I would not have had to name Saga with the Disruptor Flute if I extracted the Sagas! If you need decklists I recommend checking out the community Discord linked in the video description, most players are on Golgari right now and will be able to help you with a stock list, or help you optimize whatever you build!
About the music: Set your PC audio as an audio source in OBS (it sounds like you may already), and you can play spotify or whatever in the background. Super easy. Just be careful about DMCA, if you're wanting to be monetized.
I was having issues with Twitch force-muting the VOD, despite using Spotify playlists that were supposedly free-use or stream-safe. If you have any information on how to research this let me know, I can start adding background lofi to these videos as well that way! Thanks for the suggestion.
@@entuo If Twitch is muting your mod, you’re definitely sending off a DMCA red-flag. Be cautious of playlists that say “stream-safe/DMCA-free” Sometimes they aren’t. I have two suggestions; one is budget-friendly, the other will take a bit of money. Harris Heller’s Stream Beats is a playlist on Spotify that is all-original and not copyrighted. It is truly stream-safe. But a lot of streamers use his beats. If you want to sound more unique and original, you can hire someone on Fiverr to produce beats/lofi for you. Some are more affordable than others, and you will generally get what you pay for. Hope this helps.
@@entuo A lot of times, Spotify still has copyright issues. You can research to find copyright-free lofi on Spotify, but a lot of the time you can find a copyright-free mix on RU-vid, I've had success with those in the past. Most of the songs in a RU-vid copyright-free video won't be owned by labels, so you might have more luck there. Great video!
Thank you so much for your videos! I really wanna try to run lantern this season, but without your videos i would think that it is unplayable in current meta.
The meta is still very unstable, we will see if Lantern Control can still do well once the new meta is established. I think Lantern is very versatile, though! It has a chance in any meta, and the decks it struggles against like Green Tron and Amulet Titan are not doing very well right now. The deck is hard and takes practice, so don't be discouraged if you do poorly your first several leagues with it! I had a LOT of 0-4 and 0-5 MTGO Leagues I had to suffer through before I started to believe I could win anything ^_^. Thanks for the kind words, I'm happy this is helping people!

Legitimately, tanks and tanks and banshees and more tanks. This doesn't work so well versus terrans that just float away though, so that works too ^_^.
I try :D. Most people past gold league are tryhards and copycats of the pros, but I prefer to keep the game a bit creative. It has the potential to be very innovative but most people abuse the game and do staple strategies :(
Also, (if you happen to play StarCraft or know the units a bit) do you have any build suggestions for me? I'd love to come up with some cool vids inspired by viewers, which is one of the reasons I wish people'd comment :D
