My parents grew up in the depression here in the United States. I'm fascinated with history and how much life has changed since the beginning of time. Every video I edit I learn about history and it inspires me about the world we all live in. I enjoy restoring old video and film. I do this with computer software that allows me to use color correction, sharpness, scratch removal and add color to the moving pictures.
wow, a 2 lane road, the drive must have taken 8 hours back then. amazing thing is that it still looks like this today, bigger highway but same run-down, burn out, abandoned shack houses out in the middle of nowhere. what is with the soundtrack of gunfire in the background? when in Vegas go see the Neon museum, a few of those signs INCLUDING the Flamingo sign are all there lit up. The Flamingo sign was created by a woman who also created that Flamingo font.
Kind of wondering if the first minute and a half or so was taken on Sherman Way, because of all the palm trees. And of course, the last part of the video taken at the beach is NOT in the SFV!
Your desire to add nothing but a weak whine to the narrative of Nola & its uniquely rich mix of peoples & cultures is useless. This era & this place was historically significant FOR once-rural black Louisianans, and all mixed peoples.
@@bbordelon2 and with great amazement, they survived, So, 94 years later, with great gains and sacrifices, still isn't all the way out of the fire, which would be an amazing feat for people
Ha Ha to all the people here gushing about the elegant women of a simpler time. This is police footage intended to keep track of high class prostitutes in the ritzy neighborhood around the Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire Blvd in Hollywood.
Those are not cable cars, they are electric street cars - trolley cars - and these probably could hit 35 MPH. More modern trolley cars can hit about 50.
Great choice of music!! Made it all the more fun. I can tell by Steeplechase's Traver Circle Swing at the 2:44 mark that this was shot precisely in the year 1940. Thanks for this most endearing and educational post. 😁😁😁 (btw People can now find this on RU-vid's Awesome Coney Island Videos..... ru-vid.com/group/PLZY0gh4CnM6glItC0gJ3lbZ2xQJpVx0RU&si=8eMi-0H9j4tEqP20 )
