Ask your teachers for the scheme of work for year 9 and work through most of it if not all. Do topic by topic questions . Then go online and search “year 9 maths assessments uk pdf” and papers custom made for year 9 topics will come up. Take these tests fairly serious since they will determine year ten sets but don’t do a crazy amount of revision. 2 hours maximum in year nine near your end of years
My grades 8 - Chemistry and History 7 - Biology, Physics, English Lang, Spanish, Maths 6 - English Lit I was one mark off an 8 in physics so that's getting remarked. I was two marks off a 7 in English lit so that's also getting remarked :)
You will have to wait until school reopens. 😊 But your school's exams officer may be in school next week dealing with remark enquiries. Check with the school
These are my grades: 9 - Religious Studies, English Language and Literature 8 - Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry 7 - Geography 6 - Biology and Physics (just 3 marks away from a 7) How do you think I did?
Eng lang: 8 Eng lit: 7 Maths: 7 Science: 77 Art: 7 PE: 7 History: 6 Graphics: 5 Further Maths: 5 I thought I was failing further maths so badly, so happy to lock the extra gcse in even if it isn’t a “good” grade lol
sir..do u hv to get grade 8 or above to be able to do further maths i'm in yr 10 and i did my maths gcse and got a 7...so cn i do further maths gcse in yr 11???
For gcse further maths, you are ideally a grade 8 student in GCSE maths. However, this doesn't mean that you won't be able to do it with a grade 7. Most of the content is an extension of gcse maths topics.
My child got 3 marks off a 7 and got an 8 in her mock and even a 9 in some past papers. However, their school aren't letting them do Maths A level. They're devastated. Have already emailed the school, but they're firm and say there's no flexibility. Any suggestions. I am going to go for a remark, but they're saying there might not be any room left by the time the results come back even if it's moved up to a 7.
That's very unfortunate. You can look at other sixth forms that allow A-level maths with Grade 6, although it is easier to stick with her school sixth form. Fortunately, she was only 3 marks away from Grade 7, and that is definitely something to be explored ASAP. As for the school saying there might not be enough space , I can't comment on that as it is each school's directive. Little unreasonable, I guess, but the uptake must be very high. The results of a remark do come back quite fast. Sometimes, within a couple of days so it might be ok. Alternatively, you can study and sit the a-level exam privately.
Combined Science F: 33 Computer Science Opt B Python: 2 English Language: 3 English Literature: 3 Mathematics F: 4 Spanish F [Wjec]: 3 (3 marks off a grade 4) Creative Media: P2 Music Tech: D1 Looks like I have to resit english. I'm happy with passing maths though
Got a grade 8 mashallah 176 marks edexcel higher. Grade boundaries so low this year lower than 2019 which was a shock. But overall happy inshallah and I'm doing a level maths
Well done to you. Keep up the hard work. 💪🏾 Now for the bitter truth pill...life gets harder from here, unfortunately, so this is even more reason to continue to develop yourself and your skills, which im sure you would do!
@@h42296 same bro I was predicted a 9 but I knew since June I was getting a 8 after seeing the mark schemes online. Still a 7 Is good it's an A and this year was harder compared to last year which is why the boundaries dropped bare. Good luck 👍🏻
@@NJ-qx3vbIt’s fine bro so many people dropped from 9 this year. I’m kinda grateful to get a strong 7 since lots of people dropped off hard from that even
You can turn things around even if you believe you did poorly. I was shockingly bad at maths (I have dysculia) and didn’t pass. I worked extremely hard in college for my level 3 extended diploma in health and social care and now I’m graduating from university in November, and hoping to start studying adult nursing in September 2025. My only advice is to buy every single maths revision book you can, and keep at it. If you can, even better get a tutor. You can do it but it’s going to take a lot of work. You got this 🩷
@@heather-t5q Please don’t let it. Nobody is the same and you all have different abilities. I really struggled in my GCSES and I’m graduating from university in November. So no matter how bad or good you did, you got this :)
@@heather-t5q it’s nothing mate. I got straight 9s. It really doesn’t mean much. Your future is much more dependant on A Levels and even then, it’s not the end of the world if those go bad too.
I like to use those pens, too. The exam papers do ask that you don't use them as the heat when they scan papers through can cause ink to rub out. Let's hope for the best 🙏🏽
Hi sir, thank you for these v helpful vids. however could i suggest that you start a playlist whee you answer only hardd A-level pure and applied past paper questions. for e.g other youtubers have done so such as creating a series of "100 days of a level maths" in which he solved 1 hard question everyday for 100 days or a "tricky a level maths questions" etc... it would be very helpful for current and future students. Thank you
I am really anxious for gcse results day as I have worked incredibly hard to the point where I would revise day and night and I really wanted 9s 8s and 7s but the exams especially maths were terrible this year. I really don't want to retake. Please pray for me 😢
Finally I get it!!!!!! I have been a languages teacher for years and haven't been able to help my kids with maths as I am abysmal at it, to this day I have never known how to do this and today watching this video has helped me to teach it to my kids - many thanks. Just a question - on the third division which has 2 decimals (dividing a decimal by a decimal) at first I paused the video and did the method which you showed with the x10, but I got a large whole number and I didn't know how to put the decimal back in. So, is it that if you divide a whole number by a decimal you can use the x10 method, but if you divide a decimal by a decimal (as in the third question) you keep the decimal point in the same place? that was the only bit which I didn't quite get. Many thanks for your very step by step guide, i'll be watching more of your videos.
Hey there. Thanks for the lovely comment. As for your question, when you multiply a fraction (top and bottom) with 2, 10, 100 or whatever, you dont need to change it back as the overall value remains consistent. I'm wondering if this is what you are trying to do. 🤔 Drop me an email and show your specific working out - I'll try to find your mistake and correct that for you.
