Yes we're gonna have a wingding A summer smoker underground It's just a dugout that my dad built In case the reds decide to push the button down We've got provisions and lots of beer The keyword is survival on the new frontier Introduce me to that big blonde She's got a touch of Tuesday Weld She's wearing Ambush and a French twist She's got us wild and she can tell She loves to limbo, that much is clear She's got the right dynamic for the new frontier Well I can't wait 'til I move to the city 'Til I finally make up my mind To learn design and study overseas Do you have a steady boyfriend Cause honey I've been watching you I hear you're mad about Brubeck I like your eyes, I like him too He's an artist, a pioneer We've got to have some music on the new frontier Well I can't wait 'til I move to the city 'Til I finally make up my mind To learn design and study overseas Let's pretend that it's the real thing And stay together all night long And when I really get to know you We'll open up the doors and climb into the dawn Confess your passion, your secret fear Prepare to meet the challenge of the new frontier
There’s the zeitgeist of the tune’s theme and yet another of the album itself; which travels with the listener to whenever they hear it for the first time. The transition from vinyl to CD said there were fewer initial releases about at it’s leading edge so “The Nightfly” came to me with newness of instant, laser precision and digital recording and well away from the biggest UK hitter at the time, “Money For Nothing”. So glad I spent wisely on this platter of delights.
so nostalgia drenched ,how they do it is one of lifes great mysterys...steely to me is the american answer to the beatles...consumerism...cinema... tv...3 channnels ...god i'm so glad to be a 60s baby ...so much more fun than the misery after reagan!
Steely Dan has always been one of my favorite. To explain why seems redundant. The insight of Becker and Fagan and their genius for writing about not only their experiences but a world gone by. Sometimes about a world to com e.Their vast influence a testament to brilliance and talent.I'm sure well hear their music in the new frontier
Not sure why but this reminds me of the kind of music they'd play in supermarkets in the 80's... in a totally good way... just browsing the cheese counter...
Just stumbled on it ( again ) You could be right Video just enhances it Oh yea back when we had videos The video is full production Thought went in to it Song just absolutely JAMZ
Every time I play this song I’m taken back to when the FM radio played it hourly. MTV and that area was a great time to be alive and being obsessed with rock music. I’m 66 now and still an old hippie. Life is good! Enjoy it, it’s truly a new frontier.
What a tearjerker with an amazing message. A beautiful song that really touches a man's heart. Piercing right through my soul. Destroying me, and rebuilding me into something new and improved. Where would I be without you, Donald Fagen? Sincerely, John Yacusza.
I’ve loved this song since I first heard it in the 80’s. It and Snowbound were two songs that absolutely appears on my Apple Music, along with a ton of Steely Dan.
Not sure if I saw this on MTV or not, but somehow bought the LP and loved this tune. Don't think I did because I think I'd remember this most excellent video. ❤☮🌎
