For those of us who lived these times , It was the last days of (real music, harmony and romance). The so called music of today will never last as this generation reaches their old age.
I just met the love of my life at 70, and he is 79. Two weeks in, and feel like I have been talking to him for 6 months. We are getting engaged in December.
Both my wife and I are 75 years old. She is in early dementia. Every now and then I put this on the old turntable and we dance. She's not sure why, but I cry and gently kiss her and hold her as tightly as I can, She sees me with tears running down my cheeks and asks if I'm hurt. I always answer "yes Dear in my heart". Dementia is much worse than watching someone you love die. They are alive but they stop living.
Every word, every single word is respected enough to be heard as clearly as possible without compromising the melody. The instrumentation supports the artist and provides space for the lyrics, tone, and voice of the artist to just sing and you can hear the feelings of the words and the artist come through. A masterpiece!!
If you're going to make a video of a classic song and make the lyrics a major part, then you should at least research the lyrics and get them right. It is "press my cheeks to," not "rest my cheeks to," which doesn't even make sense.
I don't know when I first heard this, probably in 1961 0r 1962. It pierced my heart then and I took my future wife to see Etta James in 1968 on our first date. We're still married!
