My son facing a guy who said he is rated 1400 . The day before , they had played 3 games . My son won all 3. He claimed the clock screws him up because he’s worried about his time running down. During this game , he demanded no clock. He made my son put up the clock . He still lost even with no clock .
I know the man who lost, he's competed in chess tournaments I've been in. He is a genuine 1500 Elo player. Just because he lost one game to the guy doesn't mean he isn't 1500.
It's unfair to say he's not 1500 just because he blundered one game. I've faced him in competition. I know him. He is 1500. Everyone is prone to error.

black played the philidor. on 3.d4, black usually just takes the pawn (3...exd4) and best play is 4.Nxd4 (avoids unnecessary exposure to the queen after 4.Qxd4. ...f6 in this game was simply bad in all cases. to put it another way, when white plays 3.d4, black pretty much has to capture (3...exd4) or white will succeed in opening the d-file and most likely manuever his rook to d1 eventually, forcing black to make concessions to his opening structure. thanks for the vid.
I'm a 1400 and I know to be skeptical about the queen being out with the bishop eyeing the f7 square, like any 1600 would easily punish the notorious scholar's mate and it's tricks like presented in the video, but not this "1600"
