Doing this hike next week and one of the few times I won’t even hesitate hiring a guide. This place has been an open secret for a long time, but the reason it’s still technically closed to the public is because the power plant is still operational and every so often they release water down the river which can make hiking it deadly. You need someone who can talk to the guards to know when the next water release will be and know the river well enough that they can execute a quick exit if needed.
Really appreciate your video! Wife and I are about to do some days along the coast. We plan to also be based in Salerno. I've ridden motorcycles since I was 15, you've convinced us to rent two wheels to take our time along the coast. We won't be doing it all in one go like this, but definitely doing the rental 🤙
Brilliant, thanks for sharing this 👏 I've done it from Sorento to Salerno a couple of times, but after watching this, I'm going back in September to do it the way you did it 😀
Nice one, Pete. I'm thinking about renting a scooter from Naples in June and riding it to Positano to avoid driving because of bad traffic. My girlfriend will be riding as a pillion. Do you think the scooter will be powerful enough on the highway, if one exists?
Thanks, yeah, I think you'll be fine. Acceleration will be slow, especially going up over the mountain range, but you'll be fine. I had a friend do the coast on a scooter with his wife on the back, no issues.
Great, informative video. We are going to the amafli coast this September from Monday to Saturday and will be hiring scooters. Would you recommend hiring them for a few days, oppose to just one day? We are staying in sorrento. Was it easy to park the scooters? Is there a lot of places to park? Thank you! Julia
Yeah, parking was pretty easy, lots of parking around for scooters (blue zones). Pay via an app. One day might be tight depending on what you want to do and the closing hours of the shop. I'd say it's worth keeping them through sunset
Rented the scooter for 3 days from Rent2Ride in Salerno. $400 CAD for both scooters for the whole time. This was the 9th of September. It was about 6 hours of riding, and 6 hours of stopping checking stuff out. Definitely recommend avoiding the tunnels on the north side of the coast, though it'll take longer. Overall was a blast.
Cool video...what would happen if you change your boot for 311 boot sole length? It looks like it is possible without drilling new holes, but it would change the centre of gravity I guess
@@michaelsmith9034 125cc or under doesn't require any license, anything larger requires a motorcycle license. I tried to get a larger bike with my Canadian motorcycle license, however they didn't want to rent it to a foreigner. 125cc was great though, no power issue
Thanks for putting this up. I've got the tectons on one pair of skis. Mounted them up last year. Bought another pair this year and had no clue how to install. The brake and heel piece on these are a little tricky. Once you get them on they are easy to use. You'll like the quick transitions.
@@AakashLohia1992 yup, motorcycle mount with selfie stick was about it. I also had a vibration damper, but found it made the video a bit worse, so didn't really use it.
Mamma Mia! What a video! Looks like an amazing trip. Fun fact: the 2023 Giro d’Italia went through Amalfi this year on stage 6, including Positano, so feel like it was even more popular with cyclists this year!
