I need to let go of something. It's been many months of this process and everytime I feel this inner grasping that contracts the chest , this asphyxiating holding on , this intense terror of just letting go , I listen to this song, I cry and then I start again.
It could be that bruce springsteen other name is kasperi asin casper the friendly ghost, falt as in field, battlefield. who knows, regards, commander J
This is my favorite B.Springsteen song.I appreciate he wrote the lyrics, but i must admit Rage Against The Machine covered this song with alot more passion. ..watch this and feel the difference of energy! m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1VypaE6kKJ8.html&pp=ygURZ2hvc3Qgb2YgdG9tIGpvYWQ%3D
SPRINGSTEEN!!! My favorite line in this song is the last line. LBJ wanted Steinbeck to work for the CIA. Steinbeck turned him down. Yeah! Do you think, if there was a war, today, between UK and Ireland that JFK would be with the Irish? Think! Politics! It's tough to solve world problems. Really tough. It's a lot easier to sing about things. I don't think this world will ever be perfect. I think it's stupid to think that it ever will. What I really think is that it's just a bunch of ambitious people with power trying to protect what they possess - THEIR POWER. It made me tired to even type that. That's a given. I think that one of the greatest people to have ever lived on this earth was a man named Father Damien. I think that when you listen to this song, you should be reading about his life. It might help.
There are so many things I could say about this Masterpiece, but all I can say now, after being homeless (we're all on a mission) is.. it's real hard not to cry, that's all.
I came here from always loving the RATM version, always meant to listen to the original and now finally have, they are both amazing in their own ways and rage did a great job making their version their own, someone else commented this and it was very good, rage makes you feel angry that this is reality and Bruce makes you feel sad about it. Both amazing relevant tunes.
Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.
