It might mold .... Wine can and does grow mold so be careful . I've seen it on other infusion videos So maybe refrigerate the situation. Cols fridge might prevent mold
Side note: These devices with the large central hole in the reservoir do not stop releasing humidity when the fan is off. This was a downside to competitors like the Cigar Oasis plus models, the excel works as intended. If you are using a refrigerated humidor this will cause issues. This is still a Great product for wooden humidors or non refrigerated humidors and the price is really good.
Thanks for this good video. Question though. If the humidity sensors are on the circumference of the front mounted hydrometer (I assume that is why you removed the gromet for the salt test), how can it accurately report humidity once the gromet is put back on for the airtight seal when remounting it on the front of the humidor?
It's crazy how the cigar humidor process is very similar to the acoustic guitar humidity process. I can actually use my guitar sponge cases to season my humidor! Still, this has got to be one of the best videos that I have ever seen on cigar humidors. Such a very clear video and it just cuts right through all of the garbage and only gives you the information you need! I smoked cigars many years ago and I recently gotten back into them after I purchased a humidor. I recently purchased a very beautiful humidor, which was brand new, from a secondhand place for $15 bucks. It came with everything inside wrapped and unused; along with instructions. I wasn't planning on this purchase, but when I researched it, I found that it was valued at $1,200, so I had to buy it. Plus, buying this humidor was the perfect excuse for getting back into cigar smoking! Thanks for this amazing video!
I like the bovida packets. Question, what if I usually keep 5 to 10 cigars in a larger 50-60 humidifier box can I use the smaller one or it depends on size of the humidifier?
A MONTH ! ? I get the idea of wanting an infused cigar...but when you smoke a couple a day, my mind sees a spare room in the house, floor to ceiling of humidors waiting to cure.
Wow, definitely one of the most in depth video’s explaining how to prepare everything for a new humidor. I’ve watched numerous tutorials on RU-vid and they all missed major parts that you’ve covered
Mine is not working correctly. It use to hold good humidity but now it is 78° but it's set at 69. Can't get it adjusted. Might just switch back to bovida
I picked this up for work. My last one was smaller ru-vid.comUgkxtD9aJ2m6GU-X1IChQxjn9l31K1A7Kpwj and cuter but the motor burned out within a few months. This one's footprint is a tad bigger but it still doesn't eat up a lot of desk space. Its size and shape blends into the background nicely. This has a good size water container so I don't need to refill more than once a week. I use filtered (not distilled) water because cleaning up after our hard water is tough at work. I like that this has several settings. It's also very quiet. (I have a silence naxi in the next cubicle.) It also hasn't left that terrible while powder, so far, that some humidifiers leave. Been using this for a month or so now and am very happy with my purchase.
Something that was not well explained in the video, but maybe I should have looked before I acted... On the humidor with the hygrometer set into the front, you will find five holes on the back side of the hygrometer. In order to get the hygrometer out for calibration, I naturally figured I would just need to push something through one of the holes to push the hygrometer out. Unfortunately, the center hole lines up perfectly with the open back of hygrometer and I pushed directly on the back side of the needle causing the needle to then push up against the glass and break said glass. The good news is the hygrometer is still kind of works, but the needle is bent so it doesn't move freely and it may not have a good seal anymore. So, yeah, probably look before you try and push the hygrometer out.
