Also, it might just be because I’m too used to watching the PAL pitched version, but it does sound lower pitched, lower than the orignal, non PAL pitched one
here trying to figure out why the remote doesn’t work … but since we’re on the subject, the “surround” feature barely works, the front & rear center speakers don’t seem to work either most of the time, and the sound quality is ehhhh it was free but prolly tossing it soon 😅
Always wanted to visit NZ. Can’t believe this demo is a classic now. Beautifully shot with magnificent musical score. Rivaling S-VHS and ED-Beta formats, Laserdisc had the best video resolution back then before DVDs became popular.

Just pulled my Performa 5260/120 out of the shed to clean up and hopefully get working. It's unfortunately brittle and yellowed like others have mentioned here, but will be cool to see her up and running again, even has the TV tuner card and composite video in board!
I have SA-PMX92 and the only think that i truly dislike about is its display , only 1 line and no no CD text option. Apart from that, it's pretty cool, good value for money .
Can I install a new front projector (as cheap as possible cost) in my old 60" diag. Hitachi RPTV. Will any type of projector work by projecting directly onto the Fresnel lens screen from the rear? (after gutting old CRT guns) I was considering making a wine bar / storage out of it but It would be cool to have an image on front.

Does buying a wiim pro and connecting it via toslink to my nad c356bee's integrated dac make any sense? Do you think it would make a difference comparing to the tv as a source? Btw i believe nad c356bee has a really nice dac if you take in consideration its not an external dac. Thank you in advance.
Panasonic UB9000. That’s the best UHD player money can buy. It won’t actually look any better than an UB820 (or the 420k for that matter) but it has a fat ass chassis and balanced audio outs which is the kind of stuff that makes audiophiles wet themselves. I have a Sony X800. But since I rock a projector I’ve been using a 420 for it’s excellent HDR tone mapping. My latest projector (BenQ HT4550i) doesn’t need the assist so I might swap back to the Sony and move the little Panasonic upstairs where I can utilize it’s superb HDR TO SDR conversion to watch my growing 4K catalog on my Panasonic VT60 plasma.
I think/Know Denon made some of the best players that exist. I use the Denon 3800BDCI and the 3930Ci which are both 25Lbs and fantastic. I sold my Panasonic 4K UHD player as it it didn't sound as good as either of my Denons.
Nice ! I have/had the the UB820 and it's a great player in terms of picture/sound but the build quality is terrible imo and recently it seems to have broken after only a couple of years 😞The disk tray became locked, I managed to free that up so it opens again but shortly after that it started making weird noises and I think has now broken down completely ! grrrr, I wish these things were built better ! My Sony player is twice as old but sturdy and still working perfectly (but unfortunately lacks a couple of important features that the panny has).
I totally agree on the build quality. It’s unfortunate I could only do this cosmetic upgrade. I really wanted to swap out the whole laser and door mechanisms with the denon which are built so much more robust and solid. The vibration/sound are quieter too. But it’s all cost cutting to get it to market now.
@@ChadBoughton I think there is a very well built panny model available but it's 3x the price or something. I might look into it and hope I can get a good deal if it seems "reasonable"...haven't looked at what's available for a while but I think if I do buy a new player I'd want it to be multi-region so that might jack the price up even more...sometimes though, the phrase "you get what you pay for" really does hold a lot of truth...I mean some of these cheaper (poorly built) machines are ridiculously cheap for what they are/can do so maybe a couple of years life is all we should be expecting anyway.
I have had two of these, both used of course, and both had problems instead with the tuner. One had a high pitched buzz and the other, the tuner was cutting in and out rhythmically. Nothing on the tuner board looks burnt out
