GREAT TUTORIAL!!! Didn't hear what output pump pressure should read. Not sure if I was in neutral in the brain department. Does the 10-17 1:1 trans accept a gear reduction bell? I have a 10-17 in my boat and thought I'd get a backup trans but my unit has around a 1.5:1 reduction gear on it. Thanks again for the very informative video!
Your videos are the best thanks, also can you do a video on a performance upgrade to an old Chrysler Crown or Grey Marine engine like do you ever turbo one of those old engines
Hi, I have a 1941 V-12 with excessive blow by smoke coming from the oil fill breather. I am running an electric fuel pump so the rod for the fuel pump is gone. Any issues with the rod missing? Maybe that is the source of blow by smoke? Thank You ! Doug
I busted the carbon bushing when trying to install it - had to go old school I put the carbon bushing into the freezer overnight and heated the cover housing with a torch for 90 seconds it went in like butter
Thank you! I'm about to clean my Weber afb marine carbs and even though I've done it before this video was a great way to refresh my memory before I dive in. A few great tips that I'll def use, well explained and informative and geared towards someone with wrench experience.
I'm missing something here??? So at idle and in neutral there is no noise, right? But once in gear, the noise is loud? How does this indicate a misfire? So in that instance or example as in the video, where does the noise sound like it is coming from?
I have the same type of engine, what do you use to plug into the diagnostic ports? Looks kind of like an OBD plug. I'm also wondering what software you use, and if it's remotely affordable for a DIY kind of guy like myself? Thanks!
Great information! Have dodge dart swinger with no spark. Went thru your check list but when I use test light to stimulate spark at times its strong then try again and nothing. Can a modular be intermittent when bad. Grounds are good. Pickup good also. Again thanks for your post, very helpful.
hello, I really appreciate your video about the Velvet Drive 5000 series. I saw that you showed a problem that I also have - I have no flow in both directions. you solved the problem by replacing the old version of the 2001 736 002 crescent pump with the new 2001 736 003- gerotor. is this possible because the manual says they are not compatible. I have an old crescent variant from 1996/7, and I don't get a spare pump in Europe. USA companies do not export to Europe
After watching your videos and buying the cam, cam gear and parts for my transmissions from you, I have rebuilt both of my velvet drives and replaced the old school carburetor engines with the Vortec so they would be EFI. My project is almost complete, but I've run into a new snag. The water pump!! Where do you get an opposite rotation water pump (circulation pump) for this engine? Please help!!
All of the marine pumps apparently are short gen 1 type. But i found a solution. Flowkolerpumps makes a votec non directional CNC pump. Its expensive but it fixes the problem. Their part number is 1974 1996-2014.
Ever heard of one of these stalling out a TAMD31 in forward and reverse. Suddenly started. Engage gear and engine will not rev, just pours unburnt diesel out the exhaust like James Bond ..
That 340 sounded great wound up tight! They're both beautiful, and there's nothing prettier to my eye than a wooden boat at speed. Thanks for sharing this footage.
Thanks for the videos. I have a hurth hsw450 1:1. After running it wide open for an hour it blows fluid out on the input side. It happened twice after replacing the input seal.
Question, if the motor in the boat got blazing hot because of overheating could the oil in tranny break down because of the temperature? having tranny issues now and most likely need a rebuild for whatever reason, new boat to me, I'm thinking changing tranny oil would be the first ave to check? Thank You.
My ol'man dropped the grommet for the fluid fill plug in the transmission. I fished the washers and nut outta there with a magnet, how do I get the grommet out?
