$1800 cheaper than Daly City CA.. 2014 I moved out of my apartment after living for about 10yrs. in Daly City . The owner wanted it for $1900 in 1 bedroom apartment. So I said bye bye.
Good luck sa new place🎉Grabe na talaga rent prices ngayon. Matagal din kaming naging renters at ilang beses din kami nagpalipat lipat, pero naisip namin in the future lahat tumataas, so nagsikap kami makabili ng sarili namin. Then after that hindi parin kami nag relax, nagbabayad kami extra to pay off the mortgage earlier. Ngayon mortgage free, debt free na kami. Kaya relax na at wala na stress, enjoying life with family and the best part 40s palang kami at malayo pa retirement 👍
Salamat po at congrats sa success nyo! We have decided that owning a home is not a good investment for now. We still have to re-test the waters here in Calgary. Pero siguro po separate time na lang namin elaborate ang topic na ‘to. But for now we are happy of what we’ve accomplished so far and hope to accomplish in the near future.
You’re both so hardworking, and don’t shy away from hard work. Best of luck on settling anew in Canada. And yes, a video on how to save money while living in a beautiful but expensive place will be most welcome!
Hey Ren, never thought you’d be one to want to retire in the Philippines hehehe. But glad to hear that. What part of the Philippines if you don’t mind me asking?
@@AlexMollyTV I don’t know yet. I don’t have relatives in the province. Probably live with my cousins in Pasay. Are you here in Montreal ? We should meet for lunch and chat about it
Hello Molly n Alex, started watching ur vlog recently Dont know if u remember us during Joan n Jopay days we used to live in Citadel Nw,we even did bible reading at ur haus.My name is Lee n Rhoel Alvarez.Enjoy vlogging
That’s a very good point. But that’s something we try to keep to a balance. Everything is so accessible online these days that it almost feels like it’s getting harder and harder for us to find a reason to go out from the comfort of our own homes. So sometimes we will still drive ourselves to go out to buy things. Specially for items we want to get an actual visual of size, quality and whether it’s really something we actually need on the first place. Amazon’s always our go to for small trinkets like, cellphone holders, camera accessories and what not. But for items like the rice cooker and the mattress topper that is something we rather look at the actual products before buying.
when we settled in Ontario, Canada as landed immigrants almost 4 decades ago we rented 2 bedrooms apartment for $640/month plus $30 dollars parking. free electricity, free water except landline phone. gas prices then was .35cents per liter, it cost me just $18 dollars to fill up gas fulltank. $20 dollars week groceries consumption, when we bough our first house then required deposit was $100, required down payment $5K payable in 20-25 years (prices then from $150k- $250k 3-4 bedrooms detached home.) and you move in less than a year aquisition. all those are gone and history!
Lol! Tell me about it. Every time I recall those times back in the day when they had toonie Tuesdays at kfc’s , mcdonald’s offering 50 cent big mac’s. Can’t help but reflect on the older folks that tend to say “you know back in my day”. Kinda feels like time just going full circle on us.
Welcome po sa channel namin! Ok yan at least pwede pang bayad mortgage. Pansin namin pamahal na den ang Calgary. It all depends po siguro sa kung saan tayo nakatira. Smaller town’s madalas mas mura mga mortage. Pero malamang it all comes with pros and cons.
Wow nice naman . San banda sa Calgary kayo ? Kasi akmi nasa condo ngaun , kaso we’re thinking of moving ..again … kasi nakakatakot pala kapag may fire alarm. Sa 4th floor kami . Naka mortgage ,pero pwede na mag rent basta ayoko na sa condo hehe . Taga Richmond BC kami for some years, kakalat lang namin last October . Ok na ok na yang nakuha nyo . Congrats sa new place . Liked 8, watched and subscribed from Calgary Alberta.
Cheap but not so cheap 😌 when you’re coming from the Philippines and just re-settling. Although, no matter where you are in the world cost of living does play a factor in pricing. But it was a definite shock seeing the leap of overall cost of things in Calgary.
Happy Birthday, Alex 🎉! Your rent of $1800 (Canadian) including utilities is almost too good to be true! The house is spacious and airy and pretty much well maintained. No way can you find rent that “ cheap” for a two bedroom, utilities included plus grounds maintenance in HI😲
Thanks Hope! I guess it all depends what part of the world you’re at. But if you were to compare what you earn vs the cost of things here. It all seems much higher than previous years we lived here. I think expenses are much more obvious here considering our stay in the Philippines was out in the province where you have direct access to fresh produce, and diet is much simpler hehehe (ie.: dried fish, dried squid, backyard raised chicken, fresh eggs and direct access to vegetables and what not from the local “palengke”). I guess parts of the pros and cons of the two worlds.
Wow, $1800 with all those items included and utilities. In San Diego, two bed empty apartment is roughly $2700 and up tenant pays for all utilities, depending on what area of the county. Houses for rent are at least $3700 + utilities. So it's first month + one month deposit and you must make 3x the amount of rent to qualify for the unit.
Wow $1800 vs $2700-$3700 seems like crazy amounts down there. It makes me wonder what’s the average household income down there. The requirements are pretty steep as well. It almost sounds like you need at least two families living in the same roof to qualify
Hi Alex don’t know if u remember us from Montreal . We userto be with ur parents way back then . We r the parents of Dave and Derrick Hernandez. Now in Vancouver since 2021 . We came to see Abby with Derrick . Welcome back to Canada and have a good rest first and foremost . Best of luck to both of you and take care…Tito Sandi Tita violy
Hello po tito, tita definitely remember ko po kayo. Specially sa mga gatherings. Welcome po sa channel namin and thank you po! Naka balik safe and sound naman sa Canada. Hope to see you and tito sa next visit nyo! Ingat always!
Enjoyed this simple video of your trip to Montreal- the French influence is really evident in the places you took us to, and the ambiance! Would like to see those places and restaurants for myself one day. (And the show Aura was truly awesome inspiring🥰)
Hi Hope! Montreal’s definitely a place worth visiting. Lot’s of interesting things to see and go through. Lot’s of good restaurants and if you’re into shopping. There’s a lot of stores to choose from.
I loved visiting the eastern side of Canada. Visited Olympic Park in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto. Also Niagara Falls from the Canadian side. Cousins live in Toronto.
Those are definitely nice places to visit. Niagara falls was one of my favourite spots to go to when I use to live back in Montreal. One day we hope to visit further east like PEI, new Brunswick.
As always, enjoyed your simple video- and seeing the French influence in Quebec. How did you find that Airbnb- its very nice and perfect for a group or family.
One of our friends was in charge of booking. It was a pretty nice find. The place was nice and clean and it was situated pretty central from the place we wanted to visit so it worked out quite nicely.
Welcome back! I remember watching your moving to the Philippines video years ago and got inspired. I just got my dual citizenship, but still weighing my options if moving the Philippines or staying in Toronto is for me. Best wishes!
Thanks! If you’re able to experience a long stay in the Philippines like we did. We would definitely recommend it. A couple of weeks to a month in any travel destination you’re simply a tourist. But staying in a place for a year or more allows you to see the lifestyle, culture, you would potentially be getting into. It’s definitely an eye opener. There are definite pro’s and cons. Congrats on your dual citizenship! That’s definitely an advantage of having if you plan on staying back home for a while.
I just found your channel. I find it very informative, since I've lived in the states since I was 6 years years old. I've only been back to the Philippines a couple of times way back. I was considering moving back to retire, but not sure. I don't think I can give up the US conveniences. I love the country, it's beautiful, but still...I think I'm just to used to US life. I'm like Alex...I can still speak Tagalog fluently. :)
@@sansu1012 Welcome to our channel! It seems we are on the same mindset hehehe. The only thing I would say is getting this experience living in the Philippines helped clarify a couple of the blurry visions of whether we want to be living in the Philippines at retirement or staying in Canada. It’s definitely allowed us to make clearer decisions moving forward. Glad to know I have a fellow kababayan that’s also retained parts our roots.
You really are both looking very good, younger looking than ever!- living in the Philippines for three years has been good for you. (I don’t think I have heard Alex speaking in Tagalog before). I wish you both success and the best to come.
Thank you very much Hope! It was definitely 3 good years. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to live and experience this at an early stage in life. It was definitely an eye opener. We’ve decided to move forward with Tagalog as a lot of our viewers have requested this during our stay in the Philippines. Although I moved to Canada at a very very young age I never fully forgot my Filipino roots. I always managed to practiced the language whenever I encountered a fellow kabayan (countryman). Out of curiosity what’s your nationality?
We plan to live in the philippines for a year or two I'd like my kids to experience our culture, travel and introduce farm life (we bought a farm years ago and kids love it!) anyway I have no plan of selling my property here in california, the plan is to stay in the philippines for a while come back in california yearly when kids are out of school (opposite) therefore we get to see family and friends. I want them to enjoy the best of both worlds. My husband will take care of our house while kids and I are in the philippines that way we will have full healthcare coverage while away through my husbands job and come back anytime we need to. I wish you both all the BEST!!
That’s sounds like a solid plan. It’s definitely a good idea to let kids see both sides of the world. We hope that one day we may give the same opportunity to our son when we are able to complete his adoption. Out of curiosity what type of farm do you guys have? We have a small plot of land we plan to develop eventually. But for now it’s a typical cocoland with a couple of fruiting trees around.
That’s so sad, Alex leaving the Phil. and especially your son after three years😢I wish you the best as you move forward to a new chapter, to use your own words!
Yes indeed, a bit of sadness. But sometimes when you plan for a better tomorrow sacrifices are to be made. At least technology/facebook has made things a bit easier to keep in touch. We have family as well we trust to take care of our son. We hope that the adoption process is not too cumbersome so we may once again be whole as a family.
Rather a “shocker” that after seeming to settle in provincial life in the Philippines, now Alex is arriving in Canada soon😮🥰. What happens to your adopted son, if I may ask. And is the move back to Canada and leaving the Philippines for good?
