This offbeat movie is stuck in my memories for some reason. I was 7 when it was released though I only remember seeing it on TV. Being so young I don't know why it draws my interest. Sandy Duncan was always a cutie.
"GIRL" was written in 1971 by Songwriter Hall Of Fame inductees Norman Gimbel & Charles Fox, who, the following year, would write both "Killing Me Softly" for Roberta Flack and "I Got A Name" for Jim Croce.
If a detour could be made around the motorway(which is quite possible) there would be no issues reopening to Watlington from Chinnor via Aston Rowant. Would be great to save this iconic branch line in full.
When did they start hiding the record playing mechanism away like this? I remember using one of these in the 1980s as a kid, and thought it must be using some kind of tape-based playback system, as I couldn't see anything happening!
Correction: Beeching never cut anything - he was employed by Marples to make the hard decisions that Government of the day did not understand (not a lot has changed in 70 years!). Following on, the next station to Watlington ought to have been Wallingford, but if they had joined the lines up it would have gone straight through my school classroom - which might have annoyed the hell out of my teacher. One carriage on each line, and one 1400 tankie - no wonder there was no revenue. I rode the Wallingford 'end' every day on my way home - out to Cholsey, and then across the downs to Compton on my bike - could have gone via Didcot and the 'Gold Coast', but my way was quicker! Oh gosh - what very long time ago it all was.
Sure you probably should, although mine was just water in this video, it was leaking very fast so was too expensive to use coolant 😊 Good information though, thanks!
Beautiful and Thankyou I spent 2 months tgere as a kid in 1985 Sad to see it in ruins, yet it holds so much memories , parents visiting me there, they are gone now, music great it the true ending it deserved, Finamore Wood
Do you, by any chance, have advise for replacing the "back pipe" (8:11), my Stilo is leaking coolint in this line at the backside of the motor and i cant reach the screws at the backside from under the car. I cant find a guide in the internet so replace it.
The part number is 7756713. And yes it was tough to replace. Easier to get to if you get under the car, however I did replace mine from above by removing the coolant bottle. Mine perished and started leaking.
That was an open prison for you guys offenders , I spent two months the there in 1985 , great memories believe it or not Basic History of Finamore Wood freight road Marlow It was made in tge ww11 to house children from the blitz in London, then soon after the war in 1947 it was used to house the International rowing teams that compeated in the 1948 Olympic games, I believe some time e after the war in early 1950's the huts etc were then used for Her Majesty's Prison Service HMP for young offenders and was used as contreversal Boot camp " Borstal' for short sharp shock treatment, once Borstal was moffballed by 1983 it was then run as a normal open prison for young offenders ' open prison' but was closed in 1996 where it has laid derelict ever since Personally I believe that there is a lot History attached to this area and it should be renovated as a museum to replay it's History and Story
I remember being in there as if it was yesterday, the car park, parents parking there and walking to the visit hall, the putting green, the 5 Mike jogging roads around the prison......never forgetting Mr Slater
Great video, however the original timber huts (St Giles) were over the other to the left of the remaining more modern halls. You can just see behind the main house the derelict Central Halls.
I have one of these.. if it were me i would be taking it easy too Not many on the roads these days.... some people might say that there's a reason for that.... But i love mine.. it's different from the run of the mill Golfs Focus ST , etc etc. ha ha.. sounds like he has an after market sports exhaust on it.. mine sounds lovely with the stock one but not as raspy a top end. .But they are a lot faster than that if you rag them. .But getting on a bit nowadays so better to be safe than sorry and save the wallet ha ha

Sandy Duncan is from Tyler, Texas and so am I. I saw this movie at one of the theaters in Tyler when it first came out when I was 11 years old. I thought she was the biggest movie star ever since she was from Tyler.
Its a 5 cyl 2.4l.. Non Turbo... such a shame Fiat didn't slap a turbo on it.. it would be a flying machine.. especially with the prodrive suspension kit that the UK versions have
Nice to see. A bit stuffed now then. This is good. maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/swipe/#zoom=17&lat=51.6518&lon=-0.9964&layers=193&right=BingHyb
