Love the contrast between the scummy looking graffiti and drab modern architecture and the gorgeous views of the hills, skies and the volcano. Oh, and did you see how close the train was to that railway worker at 11.58? I suspect that wouldn’t be allowed on the railways where I live. (UK) Thank you for the video.
Was in Vico Equense a week ago for 7 days to do the Herculaneum and Pompeii visit. Bought a Campania 3 day pass that allowed us into the sites and the use of trains and buses. Good value at €35 each.
Modern cities have no character, which is by design I think. This way people are not connected to the place they live in, they become cosmopolitan with no identity in a place with no unique identity.
These FE220 trains are currently being phased out in favour of new Stadler METRO trains. They looks really cool, but I will miss these FE220 trains. They aged very well.
Nice video! In the 1970s the Urban Mass Transit Administration asked American cities for proposals to fund People Mover systems in their downtown cores. Three cities were chosen which were Detroit, Jacksonville & Miami. The most successful system to date has been Miami which built a double loop and is 5 miles (8 km) long. It would have been great if Detroit had built a double loop & expanded it's system.
Is it weird that I love places like this? Even in areas that typically look scary, you can meet some great people. I'm always curious to see what the locals experience and things like this fall right into that category.
It’s not the old commuter train! The Campania train is beautiful but doesn’t run after October! Unfortunately I’ll go to Sorrento early November taking the oldest train! Hopefully it will be safe
This is not exactly "circumvesuviana". This is the "campania express" still operated by the same company EAV. The trains are much better, cleaner and air conditioned, but the ticket price is also much higher so the trains are almost empty. The real Circumvesuviana train appears in a couple of frames around minute 7:39.
This is pretty funny, probably you're just scared by the graffiti, because the train themselves (FE220) are amongst the safer trains in the world, with an abismally low rate of failures, despite being 50 years old. However, sadly these beautiful working horses will be replaced soon by new trains already in construction.
