That is not 31lbs, I'd say it is probably 12lbs to 15lbs range, I hate it when fellow anglers exaggerate and in this instance it is exaggerated by a massive proportion. An 8 year old who fishes with their dad would clearly see that isn't above 20lbs, let alone 30lb plus.
@@FishingAdventuresScotland I don't wish to sound like an a-hole but I highly doubt that and for one reason is being that you are stating this fish shown, albeit a very nice catch, is clearly nowhere near the 31lb mark so I don't know whether other facts you give is true or something you suddenly decided to make up.
This is a cracking channel mate, very informative and enjoyable. A first aid kit just to keep in the motor is always a good idea like you said. Keep up the good work and tight lines 💪 🎣
What are the midges like in July? I'm staying in Dalavich on the loch with my 6year old and the owner is just telling me that they cant determine if they will have midges in July not very helpful tbh.
Thanks for the kind comment alan 👌 So yeah things could have went better 100% I forgot everyone starts out handling big pike on boats perfect and no one makes mistakes but it’s how we learn sometimes yeah it rolled in the net as soon as wee netted it before lifting in on to unhook it, and doesn’t help when it had a trace already down it’s throat and a lose treble and hooked it while cooking breakfast, I could have edited it out and no one would have been none the wiser but look through the comments some bad but some with good points that will help next time so I don’t think it is best to take it down 👍
Well done pal! Hopefully I will have my own video of a monster very soon. Been chasing a 20lb+ for too long now. As they say "the sun shines even on a dugs arse from time to time" Tight lines bud 👌👍🐊
Such a pack of wankers commenting on these lads .yano its a very true saying empty tins make the most noise .all youtube pikers .lads few issues but ya will learn in time .
If you spent more time attending to the fish rather than stuffing your face full of bacon rolls and recording then you would reduce damage limitation. As for your confidence levels of chinning pike, you are part of PAAS so its your obligation to inform them of your experience and confidence levels of dealing with pike from a boat so they can pair you with a more experienced boat angler. Videos like this promote a very low bar for pike handling and also show that PAAS are not doing enough to educate and teach new members.
Well as for stuffing my face I wasn’t I was eating it big man 💪 As for confidence level yeah 2nd time bait fishing from a boat and I did say last years sign up I would prefer to be paired with someone with more experience but no one offered so am not gonna beg for help. There was an additional trace left in its throat so I couldn’t just chin it with out knowing where the other trebles was surly if I got one of them in my hand that would have have ended up causing more damage to the fish and me. You have to build up confidence somehow no one starts perfect except you it seems 👍
@@FishingAdventuresScotland no one says you should be begging for help but going out with limited experience and then documenting it and uploading it to the biggest video network in the world, you are opening yourself up to constructive criticism. If you had been out with an experienced angler and you both had your undivided attention on the fish in hand then it could have been dealt with more smoothly.
@@LVATrossachs yeah I agree being out with someone definitely could have been a smoother situation, after reflecting back on it next time try unhook over the side of the boat and use this as a learning experience 👍
Had a additional trace left by someone in its throat didn’t feel is was safe enough to slip my hand under its chin without knowing where the other trebles was am no expert but didn’t feel it was safest option but fish was rested and released safely and you can so no damage was done when close up release in water 👍
Nice fish mate. I always try unhook them in the water where possible. Stops them rolling in the net like that and bit less stressful all in. Also saves their fins from getting shredded by the net.
Yeah could try that next time, normally we do but this was the first decent double fishing from the boat, somehow got caught up the drifter rope which made it even more of a nightmare and cooking breakfast at the same time 🫣
Get yerself a butchers glove, I got one after a similar incident to yours... 😉 Beautiful fish... I just wish we'd remember to savour the fight as its actually happening...we are in such a rush to land it before it gets off, we tend to forget in the moment that THIS is what we're here for.... at least, I know I do that sometimes... 🙄 Congrats, mate!! 🤗 😎👍☘🍺
Absolutely class video as always lads, still not been out on the lake myself yet but will be starting the PAAS events, hopefully get on the lake soon👌maybe bump into use at 1. Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next 1 🎣🎣🎣
I've fished here 2 or 3 times in the last year, only yet to land one jack, but had a few lost runs, while learning the ropes! have you fished here much recently, saw your videos for here are couple of years old?
@FishingAdventuresScotland thanks for reply, I fished it back in March this year and spoke to a regular who I think holds the record 28lb. He said he had definitely noticed a lot of the bigger ones hadn't been caught in a while, and his concern was over fishing or poor care of the fish. The water definitely holds some big ones going by some of the photos. Im going to try again, though, later in the year. 🐊
Fantastic fish buddy, what a fight! just found your channel today, after getting withdrawals from getting out for the pike haha! Out of curiosity is it a head or chest mount you wear for your gro pro? in the last year taken up pike fishing, and fancy getting a go pro, but not sure if a head/chest mount would be best
Well done, that was fun to watch, it must have been a fantastic experience to catch. I love the way you take care of pike and return them in top shape...what a lunker that was swimming off, the underwater shot was awesome!
