Pegs were highway pegs. Look for universal passenger pegs on the Jungle Website. I believe the pillion seat came from a Honda Rebel, but I'm not 100% on that
I have a few questions about this engine, and hope you might be able to answer them. I want to put this engine in a custom frame. If you know, when mounted, how tall this engine is from the lowest point to the highest point? How wide is it? Does it have to be mounted at the same degree to run?
It has been a couple of years since I had this bike. I remember the engine being pretty flat but wide. I also know that these bikes are finicky about angles. Usually if you leave it sitting on a side stand for too long it will burn oil upon start up so I don’t know how the fore/ aft angle would affect it.
Very good video. I also have one 2002. and work on it with the help of local mechnics. By showing your video we all learn and fix things. Thank you for taking the time and effort to produce a video with this quality. Muchas gracias!
Another great video thank you I know we’re to look of i ever need to do this, have you ever seen my bike ? Check it out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-187Aytc4FvQ.html
I have a swing arm pin stuck solid to the swing arm on the right side, makes it a complete nightmare to reassemble the swing arm and drive shaft, and now i think i will need to remove swing arm again, as a clutch problem i thought was fixed seems to be no better, the joys of riding old BMWs, mines a 98 k12rs also, thanks for the videos, they are a great source of reference. Many Regards, Paul, Wexford, Ireland.
Paul K the manual calls for heat to be applied to the bolts before removal. I got lucky as mine came out ok, but I had the torch and n standby just in case
hey whats up Neversquid. Finally was able to look at your bike build. Holy crap thats awesome! Sounds Great! Do have a question. How did you adjust the carb float height?
Man. Carb float height is my archenemy... I had the damn thing flood and fill the engine with gas. I had it so lean that it would just run on 3 cylinders... it has been a pain. I finally replaced all needles/seats, and recently ordered some new floats. I built a jig to hold the carbs as level as possible, then attached hoses to the drains at the bottom of the carbs to visually verify the height . Manual calls for 19mm height, but I found that you have to visually ensure gas is coming up to the right level, which is +/- 3mm under the sealing surface between float and carb.
@@chiefgomez716 I cross-referenced the part number across different models and makes, and finally was able to get them on Ebay coming from Taiwan... yes.. not Japanese... Search for item #223180317272
Funny comment. I guess beauty is on the eye of the beholder. I do like the look of the GSXRs, but the older models. The new ones look like octimus prime manure.
Yeah I miss it! But really on the older gsxf and gsxr the only main difference was katana had a steel frame and the katana's transmission was geared to 135. Change the gears and open up the carbs you'll have plenty of power. I used to race it all the time against newer cbrs and gsxrs and like 2 ninjas. I couldn't do anything with a 1000 but 750's and 600s I could eat up all day. Plus you can have all the power in the world but if you dont know how to ride it you're just wasting it.
I owned a 95 katana 600 it was super comfortable and I built the bike from the ground up. I called it my gsxr eater because it was wicked fast! I did a good bit of work to it and im also 6'2 and 265. I could run 186 and had put it on a dyno where the bike put out 158hp. They dyno guy bought it from me in 2008 for 3600 because he wanted to eat racers up with it. Katanas are good bikes so shut up assholes! Its not power out of the box but when you tweak it, the bike comes to life!
Mike f thank you 95 katana ain't much different from my 1988 Suzuki gsx600f I walk off on my older brother on his Suzuki gsxr750 my cousin on his Kawasaki zx6r and a few friends on their Honda cbr600rr and Yamaha r6
lol... 170MPH? really? do you still have a license? What can i say? How tall are you? I'm 6'3 and GSXR's tire me out after 30 minutes... Sure i could ride leaning on the tank, and what do you do after your right hand falls asleep? 150 mph? face it, the butt up design is great for tearing around a track, but day-to-day, long trips and commuting get tiring after a while... Anyway, the GSX-F (KATANA) and GSX-R are related. Do your research before you post these kind of comments dude.
Commenters banging on about the GSXR need to shut up. Rider skill is FAR more important in the real world than overall spec of the bike. I ride 50+ miles a day for work on various road types and even on a comparatively tame bike i can piss allover your average weekend warrior on a supersport machine.
dude GSX600 are not that bad, sure its a little sister compared to the gixxer but overall pretty good first bike. They are heavy but for the street they have good power, are fast and insurance is a whole lot less then any rider riding a gixxer
