thank god it didnt affect me very much when i was a little kid and now i have to suffer with the current state of nz public transport :( i wonder if this 10 years ago is worse than to this day? hmm
After watching the understandably rapid take-off on full power from the very short runway at Wellington, I'm wondering if this is the closest the usually demure Singaporeans get to shrieking: "Out of our way! CHA-A-A-ARGE!"
Great time of day to film - looks really good. I made an almost identical video. The Metroliner is the worst aircraft I've flown in and I actually injured myself leaving the aircraft.
I remember Whittingham very well as a Army Cadet it had a railway platform back in the 1960's and 70's we were then transported back forth to Singleton Army Camp from Whittingham
@@biponacci We called them 'flying pencils' when they were in and out of Wellington on provincial routes. I flew Wellington the New Plymouth and return once. Yeah narrow and no headroom, but less than an hour's trip meant not too onerous.
@@ninjapirate123 You are correct. (Well, strictly it still exists, but not as a stop:-). I presume the tiny number of passengers to/from Waitakere did not warrant the expense of raising the tunnel roof (or better, decreasing the grade by lowering the floor,) to accommodate the overhead wires. I would be sorry to see the tunnel remodelled anyway. Did you know those clever engineers built a kiln on-site and baked the tunnelled-out clay to make bricks to line the tunnel?
Yes there was. That location is the the former station at Paerata. The new station proposed under electrification is south of that nearer the Pedestrian Crossing.
