My mom sent me for drum lessons when I was about 13. One day he brought my mother in and told her, "Your son is not interested in the drums, he doesn't practice and he doesn't have an ounce of rhythm in his body.
I went to see Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance" and I caught a drum stick that Dave Holland threw into the crowd. That is how I became a Drummer in 1981.
I use to put a frisbee on my bed for a snare drum, I would bang my foot on the hard wood floor for a bass drum & beat on my left thigh as a hi-hat. I had bruise like you can't imagine. They used to call me "The Frisbee Kid." I saved up for my first kit, and saved some more and bought a huge LUDWIG kit with all Zildjian cymbals.
I started playing covers of mostly 80's bands in the 80's and played all over ME. & NH.
Moved to L.A. and played the Sun Set Strip for a decade.
Now I am 59, so I just keep my kit set up at home and do the You Tube Thing. I like to learn new an old songs and make it somewhat visually exciting.
