THE Deployment of the archers and Calvary made no sense. It would have been better to deploy the archers within the circle and to hide the Calvary in the forest if possible. But even so, I doubt it would have worked. Considering the force the English had mustered, the Scottish really needed a miracle or some big tactical advantage. They shouldn't have made a stand where they did, it's always easy to talk in hindsight, but this was just plain suicidal.
Amazing video! I've only discovered your channel very recently, and as both a history and a Total War fan, I'm hooked. Was just curious, is there a chance you'd do a few gunpowder-era videos in the future? I think it could be very entertaining with your presentation.
That was the last time the World heard anything about Spartan's Might and Battle screen. For whole Sparta to lose even oncev was all the Curse of the Gods forever on their Kingdom.. Since then we never heard any news of them. Only when Rome took Greece but still Romans never touched Spartanas they invaded on other greek cities. They adopted the dark red color of the spartans and maybe their phalanx tactic to make later testudo formation and their beloved color on their uniform and cloack and helmet. But for Spartans all were ended since the Battle of Lectra that if I recall was the only time that their army did not die all in battle as their custom and Laws command but retreated😮👎😥
There is a town near Capua called Nuceria. In W40k universe, there is a planet called Nuceria. Angron, primarch of the World Eaters legion, was found and raised there as a warrior slave , a gladiator. Angron led a slave revolt against slave masters of Nuceria as well.
Well done documentary, except that the Romans did not fight by dueling hand to hand but fought in line and between one shield and another passed only the gladius that eviscerated the enemy in front of it. Only by remaining aligned and covered could they apply the "mutazio" technique. Furthermore, during this battle Paulinus adopted a technique where he positioned the legionaries in a sawtooth formation so that the pressure of the British fighters against the Roman line rendered these fighters defenseless as they were pressed from behind by the other British fighters.
Epaminondas was a military genius. He was far ahead of his time. His military innovations and tactics would only be compared of these of Alexander the Great. His military skeptic and strategic mind was able to watch from close the young prince hostage from Macedonia and future king Philip. Greece and not only Thebes, unfortunate lost very early a Great leader.
It's not the Harbinger of the decline of Tang though, Gao would like to get his revenge by assembling another army, possibly to force the whole central asia to full submission but An Lushan rebellion happened and has to pull all of the army out of their garrisons to participate in the battle against traitorous general back to their homeland, leaving central Asia to turks and arabs.
