On the subject of the 2020 interview that derailed Alison a bit, there is quite a lot of well-deserved pushback directed at those who criticized Alison. And by the way, I've watched some of the NYT Cooking videos of other "ethnic" cooks (an obvious overcompensation) and they are awful.

I’m so intrigued by the discussion on the stimulus checks too - I think government provided those checks directly to individuals was because it didn’t cover all the expenses… sometimes not even housing expenses for a month. So it was up to each family to decide what was most important at that moment.
I think she's eluding to when a lot of former and current employees were speaking out on social media about how many of the staff that were PoC weren't getting paid the same as their colleagues, as well as other unfair treatment. I think it was in 2020
