lol I can't believe i seen this video, So what you want to do is submerge it in about a 1/4 inch of water for about 2-3 min depending on the reed size. But the reed you had in the video will never play right again throw it away or any reed with a crack in it!

Soaked for 30 minutes????? That's too much moisture.. No wonder it's so far wide open... Leave it put to dry with the ring loose and the cap on. The opening shouldn't be bigger then afew millimeters.
