My favourite Video Games are 'Tomb Raider' and 'The Sims' franchise; but I also love finding the most obscure, ridiculous, horrifying and janky Computer Games to have some hilarious, chaotic fun with! 🎉

Favourite game of all time - Tomb Raider 2 (1997) Original or Remaster? Look, let's wait for Patch 4. I need my animated inventory background. But the high poly model joint vertices must be 4+4 because SHE ATE. 💅
Holy moly! These kinds of efforts and labors of love can positively affect the entire future trajectory for classic games. Thanks so much for doing this for the history and future of the Sims 1. I looked both on the channel and following the link in the ReadMe on the top level of the pack download but there doesn't seem to be that video about how to Install it, which I would have very much appreciated since I've never done it before. Nevertheless I'm sure I can figure it out. I've spent more time modding Elder Scrolls than playing it. Cheers.
Yes and Yes. Tools are still available for modding the game like "The Sims Transmogrifier" and "Iff Pencil 2" and I believe there is a tool out that can create custom careers, but it will have to override one of the Maxis made ones. You will likely find the answers you seek on a Sims 1 Subreddit.
Question: Are the readme's updated? I've noticed that the old .txt readmes from the original creators (found in the folders) say to put objects in the Gamedata/Objects folder instead of Downloads. This is usually reserved for objects that are being permanently replaced in the game whereas Downloads or Userobjects is for additional objects. Sometimes this conflicts with the instructions in your helpful .doc readmes. I'm trying to be careful because there are multiple warnings that say to read everything but some of the readmes conflict with the other ones🤔
If it's in "GamePlay Mods Custom Content" folder then follow the instructions in each individual mod folder. The contents of "Organised Essential Basics CC" "Organised Maxis Match CC" and "Organised ModernStyle BuildBuy CC" can be dropped into Downloads.
I play sims 1 in another language and I have noticed some of the mods (like the computer) give "Missing String!" errors in the pop-up boxes. Is there any workaround?
Unfortunately not. Another user in my other video for the mods that I created (the computer) brought this up. The issue is that I can't localise it in other languages. I **might** (not sure) be able to do something with the Computer in the future, but it will still be in English. But nothing can be done about the Smart phone mod or the other gameplay mods that pop up text boxes.
@@LeesPlay Next time I boot up the game I'll try the all_menus on cheat and see if the computer object gives the "stop translating" option. Sometimes modded objects will do this from dumb luck and it will give you whatever the english mod text was.
@@terryechoes3192 When that game came out I don’t believe they had even been a SAME SEX KISS on Television in the USA. Will & Grace premiered 1998 but was years before they could show two men actually kiss! The world was very different in 2000, what I wanted to preserve and appreciate was the fan community and minorities who demanded and wanted these equal rights for each other. In The Sims 2 it’s called Domestic Partnership, not marriage. Please remember in 2008 a debating point in the US presidential elections wasn’t over Gay marriage, both democrats and republicans said no way - it was if Queer couples could have federal rights like visiting your loved one if they were dying in hospital and being “Treated as family”

Hi, how come the installation video is not up? It says it's private. I was looking forward to that because I have problems with the game (crashes and the custom skins show up as invisible in the Create a Sim window).
@@NComics87 Hey! See similar comment below for a long explanation about why I am on the fence about publishing. In this case I don’t know if my installation would troubleshoot the issue you’re describing.

I used to play Sims 1 countless hours when it first came out, I still remember how to install mods and stuff, but a "confirmation" video would have been great lol anyway, no problem, thanks for the answer.

@@LeesPlay yeah, I know what you mean. Did menage to fix my problems though. Turns out the system changed all the files' names while pasting them in the correct folders, messing it all up. Cheers

I love these videos, I use them as background noise on my second monitor when I am working from home! The only suggestion I might have for future ones is to play households without a TV more often because the loop repeats a lot (not your fault, 100% a sims 1 thing haha), that would be really lovely! Please keep em coming in any case, love it!
I woke up this morning thinking, I wonder if there is a mod that adds weekends to Sims 1. And you've given me that and more today. Thank you so much. I love the Sims 1, it is such a throwback. It will be fun playing such a nostalgic game with less limitations. :)
@@LeesPlay I bet! I just love how eerie and unhinged S1 is. The newer games don’t touch on that feeling at all. I’m so glad more and more people are giving this game the attention it deserves.

I'm 16 so I haven't grown up playing the Sims 1 unfortunately, I am a diehard Sims 3 fan, but I'm so excited to play the Sims 1 now with your curated cc! :) Excellent work, thank you so much, and it will benefit many players!
@@annie-wt3tz That’s so fun! You make me feel old, 28 here! Sims 2 was really what I grew up in my childhood prime. Was around for launch of Sims 3 but then in my teens just moved away from the game and like watched movies, TV, books etc. Enjoy the CC Pack!

I did make the video months ago and it is ready to go, but what has me nervous about releasing the video is I won’t be in a position of offer technical support, and I don’t want to disappoint a lot of people in the comments if folks start asking Tech questions on the comments. It’s a very old game with many quirks. I still have the video up, but I am absolutely still on the fence about if I should release it.

Make sure in my Computer Mod folder the OddSims_Delivery_Coding file is in there! Also this was made only for English language versions of TS1, others have also reported issues using this mod in other languages for which I must apologise.

this is insane! im a big sims 1 player but dont usually go for custom content (tho quality of life mods and maxis made objects from the sims website dont count for that in my eyes) but i am definitely downloading this make sure i have everything i need. also im soo happy that extra cheats is now a thing in the widescreen patch, the edit_char cheat is something that i was curious about for years and i am soo happy that it is now easily accessible for new players. great pack! :)

Hi! First, thank you sm for doing this! I just put a couple of mods in for testing and some show up, some dont. I did read the readmores but for some instructions are a bit sparse and I'm clueless. Would it be possible to get a guide of some kind? f.e. the needs decay slower item doesnt show up, but the fridges do.
Thanks for this comment. I'm trying to figure out the way to go about this that doesn't open me up to a heap of Technical support questions because I don't have the resources to answer everything and don't want to leave everyone in the lurch! You need to place the plant, find it in the Misc category in the Study books section near the calendar and other items! :)

@@ichigo3003 If you put it in the downloads folder it's straight forward. You just place it in your house on a table somewhere and it just works. Nothing else to do!
What a labor of love this is! Have Miss Crumblebottom join you in the hot tub for a surprise as she hot tubs naked. She is not who she appears to be. Edited to add: I had a community lot enabled hot tub and was I surprised when Miss Crumplebottom joined my sim in the hot tub while I was downtown.
You can back step and back/side flip with modern controls. Hold L2 or whatever the draw weapon button is and you can do it. I'm several months late and it might have been added after this video is made but you can definitely do it. Might be different in the mansion since you don't have guns but I haven't tried. Works in the actual game

I actually had a little something pre-prepared for recording but I never got around to it! I did a Sims 3 LP a few years ago (quality is not as good as recent videos) but maybe in the future there could be something with World Adventures, which I really enjoyed! :)
