Loved the Sound of the O 405 ZF Gearboxes. The other very Rare Noises i grew up with were the Electric Sounds of the O 405 GTDs which were running here in Esslingen until 2008. Gladly one of this rare Busses survived in Preservation but is unable to use its electric Mode at the Moment. But the Diesel Mode with the ZF still works great!
I remember those buses very well. They were driving around in my hometown for many years. Now they're all gone. I still remember this characteristic engine sound.
sadly our versions of these are becoming a thing of the past in Nottingham. such nice buses these are, although ours were on the Wright Solar bodywork, sound basically identical.
