I’ve been in offices that are -7 and they are like just wear you coat. Sorry but when I go to the toilet the water freezes in the pipes and you expect me to work in a sit down office
It's not that the UK is to cold it's that it simply doesn't get cold enough. It's not Canada or Greenland. Or quite alot of countries that are actually 'freezing'
Up north we have a saying If its freezing southerners put hats scarves and gloves then, put the heating on....... Up north we put a jumper on! We are rock hard, old style work ethic, my husband walked a mile to work in 6 inches of snow with his tools!
Think you have an unrealistic view of southerners, it was snowing in London in 2022 and I was out in a t-shirt, because it felt so warm, I am from a coastal town though so those city temps felt so nice in comparison there's no bitterness to it, get the same feeling up north aswell, Glasgow, Manchester and Durham, in the winter is so nice, it's cold but not bitter, so I tend not wear a coat, when visiting those places, Aberdeen is definitely coats on weather though that place is bitter af
Northerner with an work ethic 😂😂😂 just relax while you collect your benefits southerners pay for 😂😂😂 I live down south and never turn heating on and still sit in boxers with door open during winter. You have no idea what your chatting about. Been up north plenty of times during winter and rarely see anyone who can remotely handle even a bit of cold.
Oh my life! Just relax! Ever heard of banter!? Yes we work hard, not everyone is on benefits! I live in a town that has built some of the greatest ships ever built! We are keeping the countries sea defences afloat! Maybe you should look at developing a sense of humour instead of lounging about in your shorts!
Half of my family live in the south, its not my 'view' it's banter! Blimy! Just like people in the south having a view we in the North are all on benefits, live in poverty have flat caps and whippets!!!! Geez!!!!
HSE do some fantastic work keeping people safe and well in the workplace and dealing with the cowboys who don't believe in health and safety and put lives at risk. Thanks guys! :)
@thewr0ngchild, although I don’t agree with the way the HSE has been positioned as ‘judge, jury and executioner’ when It comes to health and safety, I couldn’t agree more. Without the HSE or a similar regulator for health and safety, some businesses would cut corners and workers would suffer as a result. Thanks for watching :)

Hi @conwaygray8211, the short answer here is no, your employer should not be signing risk assessments on your behalf without your consent. The longer answer is, your employer has a duty to provide employees with the information related to the risks to their health and safety identified by the assessment and the preventive and protective measures (Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations Section 10). Your signature acts as an acknowledgment that you have read, understood and agree to follow the risk assessment and any associated safe system of work, as well as evidence of that the employer has communicated this information to you. Your employer should stop this practice immediately, as it opens the company up to significant liability in the event of an accident or a visit from the HSE, from both a criminal and civil perspective. It is worth noting that the acknowledgement of risk assessment and safe systems of work does not have to be a physical signature. There are a number of apps available, such as docusign, which allow for digital acknowledgement. This may be a good solution for your employer, if you work remotely and have issues signing a physical copy. From your perspective, you have a right to stop work if you feel unsafe at work. Not having clear instruction on how to work safely (i.e. RAMS) is certainly grounds for this. However, in the first instance you should approach your employer and attempt to work with them to find a solution.
