What a wonderful lady. I was given her Cakes and Baking book for Christmas in 1961 when I was 11. I've always loved that book and still use it regularly.

My boyfriend bought me a Marguerite Patten cookery book 45 years ago (my very first cookbook). I still have it. I love that wonderful woman.

horrific no matter how vile the person on the receiving end is i guess i look at it as two wrongs dont make a right.Anyway I hope you dont think im trying to defend these people because im really not and if it was my choice i think all sex offenders should be put in some kind of facility that would deal with those type of crimes because these people are clearly sick in the head in some way,shape or form.Anyway it could just be naivety on my part as im only 24 and dont have any children yet!

i have just finished reading broken it was passed on by a friend who just said you MUST read this wow i finished it in one day shy and sara really deserve this award shy for taking back her life after the most intense cruelty shown to her such a strong woman many would of given in and sara the unbearable ache of missing her child and wondering which way her life would be, these people who are intent on carrying out such awlful crimes must be stopped,

Did you ever find out if we can watch the newsnight documentary, I just finished the book and have tears in my eyes after seeing Shy here on this video.

I am currently reading the book "Broken". I am up to where Shy has gone to the media with her friend to talk about what happened to her and her sister and to try and stop Stanley from abusing the children that he currently has been. I can't believe that nobody would listen to Shy's cry for help. Why did they believe all of Stanley's lies? It is hard to comprehend. Congratulations on recieving the Woman of The Year award, that is truly wonderful!

i read the book too..really amazing individual, an inspiration to us all, i cant imagine the pain she has overcome to be where she is and the strength it must have taken her to move on and at to still be able to trust people.
