I make my Gold Dredge floats out of this. I’m actually working on a set of floats this weekend 2 feet wide 8 foot long And 16 inches tall. I’m not gonna encapsulate it. I am gluing a piece of HDPE on the bottom and quarter inch plywood on the top and paint it all black. On the high side of numbers each float will have the buoyancy of 1173 pounds. I use a certain type of gorilla glue.
This will be my second set a floats. My first set of floats I put together close to 12 years ago. They still work good. The nice thing about this new extruded foam. It doesn’t absorb water like the older foam Did slightly.
Question I’m having trouble finding out how to come up with the amount of floatation I will have with my pontoons they are going to be 16 inches wide by 8 inches tall by 7 foot long can tell me how to figure this please thank you for your time
Can I use Expanded Polystyrene Foam to make a Mobile Floating Private Island if I put pond liner tarp on top of the Expanded Polystyrene Foam then put compost and soil and grass and bushes and trees etc on top and then put houses on top of this synthetic but natural looking mobile floating island?
I am wanting to build a rock wall for the back of my aquarium using EPS foam. The foam will measure approximately 72" L x 24" T x (variable) 1.5" - 2.5" W. I'm thinking of using a silicone sealant to adhere it to the back of the aquarium but I'm also wondering how much weight it would require to sink the the bottom of the tank. Can you please help me with the math on this?
Great video, love to see your passion! I just have a VERY small project I'm working on, custom floats for drones (mine currently is at the bottom of lake as I didn't have floats and it dropped out of the air like a brick, ha). Is styrofoam the best foam for flotation? I'm looking for the lightest foam product I can get to use as the drone is only 250g and the lighter the better.
If I wanted to use EPS as a spacer in a truck bed for a camper would this work and How thick would I need it to float 4500LBS? Truck bed would hold a completer 4x8 sheet. Thanks
50 to 100$ whats the difference 50$ and 100$ product you add up some gold in? and its same size 1 cubic yard. its basic little more then 1 meter to 1 meter 3 cubic yard so about 9 to 10 feet by 3 feet if its 50$ its okay but 100$ no saving at all
One Cubic foot has 1,728 cubic inches, so if you take the 55 lbs max flotation provided by the foam and divide it by the 1,728, you get 0.03 pounds of flotation per cubic inch of foam, only 3% of a pound.
I often thought it would be a good idea to mount Mobile Homes on blocks of EPS Foam in flood-prone area's. Fresh water and sewer connect could be coiled flexible tubing. The epoxy coating would protect the eps foam from degradation. Corner poles could be utilized to allow flotation, but keep the trailer in place. Might be able to make Million$ from this idea?
Hi .....I want to put 2 pieces of styrofoam each ....48 in. long by 6 in round ......on the sides of my kayak. Do think this will help it from tipping over sideways? Make easier to get in? Thanks.
Water weighs 62.6 pounds per cubic foot.. so, If the mean buoyancy number for foam is 51.5 lbs. that's 84% displacement weight. I needed that, Thank You.. I'm building an Air-boat with my 17hp lawn mower motor
No laughing here sir. If you can see it, it can be done. If anyone is laughing, than they have not read Think and Grow Rich....wait what the hell am I talking about? If they are laughing its because they never read anything. Go for it brother!
i want to make the front end of my Suzuki samuria to have enuff buoyancy to lift or float or support aprox 500-750 lbs. we ride the river and sometimes hit a un seeable hole - which can occur. im trying to keep front end to from sinking. causeing water stress on electronics. the vehicle is snorkeled and fuel injected and diffs and tcase and tranny vented. but water around electronics can cause failure. if i can keep the front end up so back weels continue to churn i can get thru i can send you a picture of my sammy on ways or details how to do it - thanks monty walker - long story short i'm looking at eps foam for the answer in some fashion and made it look nice
All joking aside. I need to make a 1" diameter EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) Rod. It's got a Density of 0.03g/cm3, and I need it to make a floating thing for a project I'm working on. Currently, it's the least dense material for floating on water I can find. I heard and read about Balsa wood, but balsa wood absorbs water. How would I go about making an expanded polystyrene rod? I'm learning about the process. The steam makes the balls grow, and it becomes expanded polystyrene with a density of about 0.03g/cm3. That means that it sits on the water, and only about 3% of it sinks into the water. That's very good, because I need a reliable material like that, if not better.
I want to make something but i have no help at all and everyone doubt me . I am building a bike that going to be a shelter boat . Well im having not to much luck right now but i will build it . I could use some tips . And yes this is my real name so you can find me on face book .
Hi, Do you know what kind of foams are used in boxing pads or in swimming kick boards. I'm looking for a really rigid foam in which I can build furniture with.
