The engine is actually a bit too heavy for the gearbox :p Although a ZF gearbox in an O405 rarely fails. ;) I hear this bus runs great and literally sounds like music to my ears. I listen audiophile responsibly through an Audio Technica ATH-M50x connected to a decent Yamaha amplifier for the best experience, because buses with such a beautiful sound are never made anymore. The buses driving around here in Rotterdam are all electric and those buses have boring power electronics instead of a gearbox.
That distinctive loud scream would never get old, sounds amazing on any bus but especially DAF DB250’s. Shame times change and it’s now rarer to find these brilliant sounding beasts.
Jeeee What a slow car to accelerate You need a calendar to measure how long it takes you to reach max speed I think the differential is the culprit There is a different differential than standard A so-called quick runner differential Then the car runs up to 80 km/h But the engine is not suitable for it and gives too little power And real kick-down.... You pull through to at least redline operation Not to about 2100 rpm That doesn't even look like you're driving with kick-down
@@hobusmaton Fortunately, there was no Voith gear box in it That would completely downshift to 1st stage and blow up the engine 10% is a nice slope You don't see much of it in the Netherlands. Only in Limburg in the south
I agree, Voith's are just boring compared to a ZF. The downshifts on the bus in video are pretty nice but out of at the Voith's I've heard on RU-vid that claim to be tuneful this is probably the best instance but I'd take a Ecomat any day
Yes, I feel sad about that. They used to be common here in Portland, Oregon when Tri-Met first specified the Voith in its 1988 Flxible Metros numbered 500-549.
