Thank You so much for your time because I truly appreciate it and love doing this.
Thank you for this information. It was very helpful. Unfortunately the video itself was extremely annoying, because it was so jumpy. If you want to become a great RU-vidr, minimize the panning, and keep the panning slow if you must pan, and use a tripod, or at least some type of steady cam unit, so it's not bouncing around (for a lot of it, I couldn't watch it, I just listened to your excellent commentary; you have a nice voice, too, and I appreciate what you told us, thank you, but I had to keep freezing it to look at the video). You have great content and an nice attitude and manor that's easy to listen to. Fixing the camera work could really help your RU-vid count. Sorry this is negative, but I hope it helps you and that you become a great RU-vidr.
A little over a year. This was due to my schedule mainly. If you have more free time it should only take a couple months depending on machine shop turn arounds near you.
Ohh sorry I didn't realize you were using a clutch that didn't require the friction surface. That's interesting. I was having slippage issues with mine (460ft.lb at the wheels so I am currently using a 6 puck, but its a bit too aggressive for daily driving). I just looked up Uniclutch, what kit/part # did you get? For the VG30e they have 2 OEM cover bolt up PCD options, 280mm or 290mm not sure what I would need. I see you got the 'Sport' Uniclutch rated at 800 ft. lb., I probably just need the regular which they state is rated at 650 ft. lb. I don't plan on going any higher than I am now. Thanks!
So when ever you go through the purchasing process it’ll have you select your year and turbo or NA. That’s what will determine the adapter ring that you’ll get since that’s what will change, if at all. I think since there were 2 options for dowl holes on the one I got, it probably uses the same ring.
Cool project man, one thing of note is I'd consider switching to a SS oil turbo drain hose as it's a bit more resistant to heat than the nylon threading or at least put some fire/heat shield around it. I'd also opt for a straight drain fitting on the turbo and let the hose have the slight bend to it as it's a little less radius and easier for the oil to get outta there. Anyway, look forward to seeing more updates man!
The hose is stainless steel, it just has a nylon cover. Also the angle is like 45° so it shouldn’t cause an issue, especially since the drain is a 10an
Nice work! I was looking at one of those throttle bodies but kept my 60mm 240sx one. Looking forward to further progress. btw I commented on one of your YT short clips about the Fidanza flywheel, did you remove the green film? (your supposed to) I rubbed mine off with paint thinner or mineral spirits.
Thanks, honestly I could’ve done a video on just the throttle body itself. I had to remove everything and flip the housing since the everything was on the opposite side. I did not wipe off the flywheel, I know you are supposed to but in my case I didn’t need to with UniClutch. I go over that part during the install.
What fittings are you talking about exactly? Factory is all hose barbs with 5/16th hose. I mentioned that in video. Other than that I’m unsure what it is you’re asking.
Somehow stumbled upon your vg30 videos, happy I did. I plan getting a nissan hardbody truck so this information is golden. Thank you for a nice video. Subbed <3
Real nice work but as a pipefitter I mourn the loss of those cut off wheels if you don't mind the tip always climb cut with a grinder it keeps the tool from jumping as well as saving your wheels and stainless sucks to cut but Aluminum Zirconium (not oxide) or cheap bandsaws cut like butter also you cant go wrong with the Harbor Freight $9.99 cord grinder those things move some metal big VG fan tho love the vids
Currently driving my first owned nissan( d21 Se) and was a long journey to get it driving as it had vg30i,ended up swapping in vg33e, and only weak part of this engine it seems is cylinder heads air flow capabilities aside from forced induction the motor doesn't produce much hp for its size and beyond 5k rpm it's out of breath, also kinda hard to find any performance parts for vg platform as everything is mainly for vg30de and not sure if works on sohc version, like turbo manifolds hard to find for 30e as most available are for 30dett, cool to know there's potential with this engine, gathering parts to convert to efi for the my d21 as I couldn't get the 2 injector throttle body setup it factory to work properly so converted to carb with a weber setup but isn't the best fuel efficiency wise and is only 2 barrel and think it's a tad on small side for a v6 but is extremely reliable believe it or not as only ever had efi (honda game) until converting to carb as last option to geting truck drivable, good vid like the info.
Good video! I agree, this procedure can be very therapeutic! :). I'm working on a couple VG33E/R builds, so good to see someone else out there building these! 👍
Z32 rods, I go over all the parts for the engine in this video here; WE GOT THE ENIGNE BACK! - An Update For Miso, My Z31 300ZX Rebuild ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NZ5VYcwGdhg.html
@@FatalRPM Just saw your video I had some questions I didn't hear you mention if you could please answer for me: 1) What size Wiseco piston are you using 87 or 88mm? 2) Are you still using the z31 or did you also upgrade to a z32 crankshaft? Thank you! sorry for the amount of questions I am in the process of a rebuild and want to see what options I have.
@precise4163 I’m using 87.5 since I’ve had my block bored out since it was out of round a bit. Also I’m using the stock crank since I didn’t see a major advantage upgrading it since I’m staying under 700hp (forums say that I can handle over 700) and my clutch is already sorted. Granted, I wouldn’t have the issues I do with the harmonic balancer had I upgraded.
Great video, I just ordered a set myself & this was the only video I could find online with the same red ones I ordered. I do hear in the video you got really bad engine lifter tick!
What would the trim piece be ve called? I have the 88 z31 with the huge rectangle and i wanna do a custom headlight but with the 85 headlights and trim rectangle thing
Miso is an 86 2+0. This kit is a supper budget kit so I wouldn’t say it has any incompatibility because regardless of the z31, you’re gonna be doing a quite a bit of body work to get it looking half decent. The only exception to that would probably be the 2+2 since the car is physically longer. I’d recommend checking out my video “Finding the issues with cheap body kits” to get a better idea of the fitment of this kit.
