Just come back from Courchevel Skiing and never saw a take off or landing while I was there, which is why I'm here! What the simulator doesn't carry across is just how ridiculously steep the runway actually is at the point of landing. Apparently, it's around an 18 degrees incline. These attempts were still highly entertaining though. At 6:00, 1650 would have been toast! 😮
Hi I really enjoyed the video. I have a Question regarding your flightrouts. I need an approach sequence including a successful landing in Courchevel. I have to design a autopilot system for a Do328 i could provide a model. I need to do this for university and the person responsible for routing left the team so if we don't get a route we cannot finish our controllers
I cannot figure why they did not lengthen this runway considering the amount of wilderness it's got in front of it... and ... how come the local aviation authority would certify such a short runway ??? it is certainly fun to have it on the sim but I am thinking of the real pilots' risks involved on the actual flights.
you can reduce the runway roll on the 747 by reducing its weight - something like no passengers and 5% fuel -- in this way it will have less momentum and will brake more easily. well done anyway - good landings.
Troll comment. If you are chinese, you would had raised the start of the runway higher, using the knoll and slope gently all the way downwards with constant gradient. The end of the runway will be solid tarmac with different material and color to take impact of chopping off main landing gear... Avoid tail-strike during take-off, flaps extended without-lowering(avoid drag for higher-speeds), throw the plane off the edge, no reaction from pilot until the plane sits on air properly and level-off with slight gain in altitude after bottoming-out on air. For landing, flaps same as take-off, spoilers deloyed to maintain angle-of-attack(leading-edge slats and tip of spoilers are level-with-horizon). Use dependability of slopes on left for approach, "brake" right(roll, main landing gear center of gravity sit on air, gain bouyancy and rebound to straight) to align with runway. And if you are chinese, you will also have a mode to leak air with ailerons versus elevators. Both baseline-default-zero switch-change to horizon instead of wing and elevator angles.
Fun to watch but not realistic at all. No way those airbuses or 747 could land in that short of a distance. They probably stopped because it was crashing into things or the landing gear dug into the dirt. Or the flight model simply isn't accurate.
Bad landings ? Pilots say any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. Excellent simulator flying skills. I assume the fuel tanks are nearly empty ? Thanks for the demonstration. I like your technique for slowing down on landing.
