An excellent example of a Waikato-style karanga, performed by this gracious kuia: clear as a bell; perfect pitch and breath control; floating lightly on air with appropriate selection of words for the occasion. Nice.
@@jt5439 they are singing about the king as a young boy sitting and listening to his ancestors tell him about the natural landscape and geography and how relevant and important it is to us all to protect for future generations!!
Reminds of my younger days on the kapok gang at Turangawaewae as well as the old people who could be heard singing this plus many more of the old songs. Happy times & memories :)
